Excellent Price
I was looking for reasonably priced paddles for our two canoes. Haven't bought a wooden paddle since the 80's. These are light weight and appear to be well made. Time will tell if they hold up like the vintage ones I've had for decades. I reviewed many of the complaints posted on Amazon.. Mine paddles have no blemishes. The lacquer finish may have been applied by dipping. There is a build up at the bottom of the paddle where there appears to be an insert for strength and gluing. I can't fault that construction technique but suspect it will need to be well sealed. The finish is not glass smooth, but is smooth to the touch, covers the wood completely and shouldn't be an issue in use. I may give them a light sanding and over-coat with a marine varnish because I have all the materials, and hope to make them last. Additional finishing does not appear to be required before they are placed in service, but couldn't hurt. In short, I am pleased with the product. I hope they live up to their name sake .. my 30+ year old paddles are from the same company. I would buy again, but hope it will not be required for some time. EZ

NIce paddles, classic styling, great value.
Nice paddles. Not fancy, not top of the line, not the smoothest finish but not like sandpaper either. For the price these cannot be beat. Classic styling and robust enough for the average paddler on lakes/ponds. Had them for just a few outings but no complaints at all. Hopefully they last for decades but at this price even if they only last 5 years they are still a good value.

Good paddle but long wait. Mid June(ordered) to early July (received).
This product is great. I bought the 5ft version for my dad for fathers day on the 21st of June. Placed my order on the 13th because of amazon prime. After one week it was still "preparing for shipment." After 3 additional days of this, I contacted the seller and was told that they are on back order because so many were being ordered, and because of my issues, when I received the product I would get 50% discount. I just received this paddle on the 3rd of July. Thankfully I can now repurpose my gift for my fathers bday present in two weeks. But if you need this product quickly STAY AWAY. The paddle is beautiful and a wonderful paddle, not too wide and the blade is nice and long for lake canoeing. If time isn't to much an issue, highly recommend this product. If you need something immediately you are Better off going to a local outdoors store, but the quality of this paddle is great for it's price.

Worked great for river conoeing!
The coating on these is very poor as others say, but they were the cheapest paddles I could find. I got the 5ft for canoeing down a river, and they held up well. I brought an extra because someone said they brake easy, but we were hard on them and they worked great! I sanded the handles and put some Rustoleum clear spray paint on. They were really nice until we cracked out the sunscreen, and the paint broke down. Better find something different to coat them with if you use sunscreen. Two different brands turned the clear coat into gell and made a black sticky mess that gave us blisters. Good times! I recommend these paddles!

The Feather Brand
These are the same inexpensive wood paddles that I grew up with in my youth. The Feather Brand as they are called and are made in the USA. As many others have noted, the finish is rough to the touch and can be more refined. For me, the roughness adds a little extra tactile grip to the handles and are not unbearable. They just need to be broken in. This is still a great looking paddle and a good choice for the canoe. They also have a plastic insert in the bottom to prevent splitting. Time will tell with the durability, but for what you are paying for I would not mind beating them up on the rocks of the American River. With too fancy a paddle ($50+) you're probably not going to want to bang them up the same way. Five stars for the price.

Same Trusty Paddle for Years
Been on the water a long time and this is the same trusty paddle I have used for years!! Love the wedge insert ( wooden wedge to strengthen the tip of the paddle for push offs on the shore or rocky bottom) and It sure does strengthen well. Bought a new one to replace the same caniness paddle I have had for 10 years. New Paddle: Finish is great and no damage. It is very light compared to some of the plastic paddles I looked at for the same price. I bought paddle because I can say this is a very well made canoe paddle from experience and the Price is the best around. I am not disappointment at all and would recommend to all of the River Rats I know!!

Great Wood Paddles
These are great paddles. I did find the handles a bit rougher than expected but not terribly so a one minute brush with extra fine sand paper did the trick! They have a nice finish on them and appear to be very sturdy and capable of lasting for years. I only wish they had not put the bar code label on them as it was really really difficult to remove. If I ever need these again will purchase from this company. They arrived early in seperate boxes which afforded excellent protection.

Cheap but decent
For the price it's terrific. Not too heavy and seems durable so far. My daughter has used it a bunch and my cousin used it for a week of canoe fishing. (I use a double blade paddle from the rear) wl When I'm solo it serves as a backup paddle.
