Srendi® Heavy Duty Mattock 5lb Head and 36” Solid Wooden Handle

This is honestly the best £20ish I've spent in a long time. I've had a lot of digging to do in my garden and the ground is full of rocks, concrete, and whatever else the previous owner decided to bury. I've got a couple of decent shovels but they just couldn't get through it. This mattock has made my life so much easier and carved through anything in the ground with ease. I've found the wooden handle is strong and just the right length for me. The digging/axe head is a good weight, enough to deliver a decent strike into the ground but not so heavy as to be difficult to weild. I've found it went through rocks, bits of concrete, and thick old roots without any trouble and has shown no signs so far of bending or breaking - brilliant. Is it perfect? No. The head does have a tendency to wobble a bit at times (it's not fixed but slides over the thin end of the handle so can loosen). However, nothing about it has stopped it from being an excellent digging tool and worthy of many stars. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong, especially for occasional DIY use.

Purchased this for some heavy duty work in our garden, found this tool to be perfect, made my work so much easier. It is made from great materials and will last for years, would recommend .

I bought this mattock for some tougher gardening jobs, and it has been a brilliant tool. The 5lb head has a good weight to it, making it powerful enough to break through compacted soil, roots and old garden beds. It saves a lot of effort compared to using a normal spade. The 36" wooden handle gives great leverage and feels solid when swinging. Despite the weight it’s well-balanced, which makes it easier to control even when doing heavier digging. I’ve used it for removing bushes, breaking ground for new flower beds and digging out stubborn roots of trees, and it handled everything really well. The wooden handle is comfortable to hold, and after long use it still feels sturdy with no cracking. The head stays firmly attached and doesn’t loosen, even with strong impact on hard soil.Excellent product.

Good sturdy piece of kit (mattock) but because the handle is wooden it is very slippery in the hands, could do with a rubber sheath. Overall pleased

This is just the perfect tool for the Garden I used it to take the grass sods of a patch of grass curs through roots rocks bricks with ease Like a knife in butter etc Be careful when using it’s extremely sharp please wear appropriate footwear if you swing and miss you’ll know about it (I was skimming the top of the grass it slipped and caught my foot it hurt. Lucky it was only a weak swing otherwise I’d be walking with two or three toes) Anyhow rant over I Definitely recommend this product

Simple and sturdy, really made by job easier. It's a little heavy so I need to use it for short periods and then recover. It gets through my rocky soil like nothing I've had before, however, and ultimately saves time and effort. The handle is untreated so I do think one should put linseed oil on it. In my case I only had some wood stain in the shed so I used that which is still a bit better than nothing, I think.

Good solid very heavy pickaxe with a very strong wooden handle because some of the reviews of the pickaxes with plastic handles indicated they don't fit very well. Very good for digging holes in flower beds which are full of rocks
