What is Sheerness?
OK, the review is easy. Been a Dap user for a few thousand years. Good, predictable product. But never had anyone ask me about "sheerness" before when I was caulking prior to painting. That kind of stopped me. After 14-hours of research, I assumed they were asking about could you see through it semi-transparent. But since this is supposed to be more or less solid, opaque, and all that, I'm still mystified by the question. Perhaps Amazon has implemented A.I. and the program hasn't painted a house yet? Buy 900 of these and turn your house in a 50-foot long fidget toy - and skip the painting.

So far, so good
I discovered a leak in the wood framing around one of my windows during a week long rain storm. I used some caulk that I had from a couple of years ago to get it sealed right away. After looking at my other windows, I noticed gaps around several of them and decided I needed something really good and really quick as the rains were going to stay for a while. After doing some research on the internet, I decided that this was the one to go with. Amazon shipped immediately and the moment I received the caulking I went to work on the windows. I had to put in on wet surfaces and it adhered beautifully. My emergency caulking had washed out with the rain and I replaced it with the Dap. After about three days the rain let up and the sun came out. I did an inspection of the areas that I had caulked and the caulking was still neatly in place and had set up well. This was a couple of months ago. Since then, the weather has been very hot and dry and the caulking is holding up quite well. No shrinking or cracking. If it holds up through the contractions in the winter then I will know we have a winner here. So far it looks very promising and I'm glad I made the purchase. It was nice being able to fill the gaps in the rain and have the leaking immediately stop. I've had very good luck using other Dap products and so far this one looks to live up to the Dap name. I got lucky with the color, it is an almost identical match to the exterior color of my house so I don't had to paint over it.

Holding Up in Arizona Sun
After reading many reviews, I decided to try this sealant since I am tired of tearing out old caulk and redoing it every 2 or 3 years after the Arizona sun has beaten it to death. So far it seems to be holding up well. It is a bit more challenging to work with than usual acrylic or latex caulk, and "works" while fresh very much like pure silicone caulk. Kind of sticky but not quite as bad as silicone. It IS paintable. I did let it dry for 3 days before applying exterior latex and it seems fine. Time will tell, but I am hopeful it will last longer as window sealant than the prior products did.

Dried in unopened cartridge
The product was completely dried in the unopened cartridge about 3 months after purchase. It was a bad sign when I punctured the seal and no caulk stuck to the rod. Tried to get it to flow with a Albion Engineering Company B26 B-Line Manual Cartridge Caulking Gun and all that happened was a buldge at the back of the cartridge. I can't recommend purchasing this product. I decided to try OSI® QUAD® MAX.

No longer waiting for the ‘perfect’ day...
This product is excellent! It applies easier to apply than a silicone and has all the pro’s of a latex but is able to be applied regardless of the forecast. The weather has been harder to predict in the past couple of years- the forecast will have 0% chance of rain for 3 days and still I’ve had caulking projects that have failed after hours of work because a sudden storm will pop up, pour down for 20 min, and the integrity of the seal is destroyed. Silicone is a PIA to use and it always looks dirty to me or is obvious when it’s been painted. This takes paint beautifully, is easy to clean up even after it’s cured, can be used on wet/damp surfaces, and isn’t weather dependent allowing it to be applied regardless of the temp or precipitation forecasted. Highly recommend!

Good stuff
This review is actually for the white Sidewinder caulk. I am prepping the exterior of my house under high temperature, humidity & threat of rain conditions. Since people said they applied this while it was raining I began using this. It is thick & a little sticky. I like thick caulk because I can control it better. A good caulking gun is a MUST. The thicker caulks won't continue to leak with a good gun like Newborn drip free gator trigger. I threw out all my cheap caulking guns. Don't finger tool without licking your finger & wiping off the excess with every "swipe". Have lots of paper towels handy & wash your hands often as you go. I lay out about 3- 12" & then tool. Luckily I have managed to caulk & prime ahead of showers. Some days I couldn't do either due to extreme temp & humidity.

Worked great.
Most importantly, it arrived pliable allowing for easy application. The material dispensed easily and evenly. The color was a little lighter than anticipated, but still matched well. It's been on the exterior now for several months and is holding up without issue.

Do you have 10 minutes to be done working at?
It was a little more difficult to apply, but the product itself is amazing
