The Nipit solved our thumb-sucking problem. It really works!
The Nipit arrived at my home the very next day after ordering it. I was pretty excited to test it out on my 7-year-old. I planned to present it to him before bedtime. I told my son before the hand stopper arrived that I had purchased an item that would help him stop sucking his thumb in his sleep. He could not wait to see what it was. My son hated that he sucked his thumb in his sleep. I tried everything. Putting socks on his hands, the thumb guards, and the nail polish, they all didn’t work. He would take the socks and thumb guard off in his sleep. I guess he could tolerate the taste of the nail polish because it did nothing to help him. My child usually could control himself during the day like most children who suck their thumbs, he has triggers, and before he knew it his thumb was in his mouth. When Nipit arrived, I checked it out thoroughly. It came in a handy reusable outer packaging that you can use for storage and to keep the hand stopper clean. It has bright, fun colors and is surprisingly soft. The Nipit is made well and very durable. It has a padded elbow cushion, velcro flaps, and straps that are adjustable for comfort. An instruction card on how-to-use, a tip guide, calendar, stickers, and zip ties for additional parental control are all included with the hand stopper. You can also go to Nipit.com/start to watch a video on how to correctly put the product on and to read other valuable information. You can also sign up for their email while you there. They only send a few emails over the span of the 21 days to help keep you and your child on track. I was impressed with the idea of the Super Success Chart and colorful star stickers to keep track of his success. It was helpful to us because it gave him the incentive to remind me that he needed to put on the Nipit every night. He looked forward to the prize at the end of the 21 days. I also could tell it made him feel good every time he placed a star. The first night of wearing the Nipit, he was so pleased with himself, he slept through the night without sucking his thumb. During the day, he would request it sometimes because he would have a trigger and wanted to suck his thumb. This good behavior continued throughout the 21 days. I am so proud of him. He was determined to kick this habit. He had a few hiccups along the way, but for the most part, he stuck with it. I rooted for him every step of the way. He is now sleeping without the Nipit and is free of thumb sucking. I didn’t even have to use the childproof easylock system (zip ties). The velcro flaps and straps worked perfectly. The best part is I don’t have to pay to correct thumb-sucking teeth. At last, something that worked. I am so grateful for this product. I will be recommending it to everyone.

100% satisfied
This took about 6 weeks in total to stop the daytime thumb sucking in our five year old. The nighttime thumb sucking was harder to quit and took about five months. This device was pivotal - our five year old could not take it off and even thought it looked cool. We also used another physical device, a T-guard, that did not work well for us, and I sewed a small thumb cover which we used in the last month or so as it was more comfortable (developed a bit of eczema under the cuff from sweating a little at night). This was a very tough habit to break, and the nipit isn't perfect but it did the job and it is worth every penny. Definitely beats all the other alternatives, and our kid did not mind wearing it. What is more, once the daytime thumb sucking was over, her teeth, which had started protruding after five years of thumb sucking ACTUALLY STRAIGHTENED. Her teeth look amazing now. If you have a five year old and are skeptical that this device can save you the cost and pain of orthodontics in the future, I assure you this is the best 50 bucks you’ll ever spend.

This works, but it may take a while, don't lose hope
Summary: If you don't want to read the full review, here is the quick version. My son was an avid thumb sucker and despite my best efforts and every thing I could think of, we couldn't break him of it. We bought this and it didn't seem to work for the first couple week and I thought this was another failed device/attempt. But don't give up, after the first 3-4 weeks, my stubborn son stopped fighting this brace and it started working. We are now 2.5 months after the first night using it, and he is no longer a thumb sucker without needing the brace any longer. This works, but it is not an overnight fix. Just hang in there and if you have tried everything else and nothing has worked for your child, take the risk and give this a try. My son was an avid thumb sucker, like super attached to thumb sucking at night. We had made progress getting him to stop during the day, but when he was tired, the thumb went in his mouth without fail and regardless of anything else we tried. We tried the bad tasting nail polish, rewards, punishments, tape/band-aids, books, literally anything else we could think of before a guard or elbow brace. We bought this as a literal last hope to finally break the habit because we had exhausted everything else. We debated between this or a thumb guard, but we ultimately landed on this because we thought it would be overall more comfortable for wearing overnight. Pros: 1. Our son (4.5yrs old) was not able to remove it himself for a while (and they do provide zip ties to provide further securing if needed). The velcro is strong, so if using on a younger child, they will likely struggle to remove this. 2. It appears to be comfortable. My son never complained that it hurt and it never left any marks or anything on his arm. 3. It does make it difficult for the child to get their fingers to their face, but not impossible. Cons: 1. A determined child can "slide" the brace up or down slightly enough to be able to more comfortably get their thumb in their mouth. This is what our son did for a week or so. I doubt that it was very comfortable though, because he stopped this behavior on his own, and I didn't want to make it tighter for obvious reasons. 2. After 2.5 months of nightly use, it is starting to show some wear around the edges (some slight fraying of the threads/seams/edges/etc.) but so far nothing that would compromise the function of the brace. So far nothing around the velcro straps, but the velcro on the body of the brace has gotten weaker. 3. The price point. I only put this on the con list because this was the main barrier to me buying this sooner than I did. I felt that price was a big risk especially after everything else had failed spectacularly for my son. However, now that I am on the other end and it has worked, it is worth every penny. Overall, this definitely works, but it is not an immediate fix. It took about a month before he stopped fighting it. I had lost hope that this would work. We actually ended up using this combined with the bad tasting nail polish that we had leftover from previous failed attempts (and discussions and rewards). After he stopped fighting it, it was another couple weeks before he started asking to wear it so he wouldn't suck his thumb in his sleep. And finally he was afraid to sleep without it because he thought he would start sucking his thumb again. We are now 2.5 months out from starting this and we've been sleeping without it for a few days and he is still not sucking his thumb. FINALLY!!!

Hopeful but failed
I have a 2 year old chronic thumb-sucker who we've been telling to stop sucking her thumb for weeks prior to buying this contraption. That was actually working well, but when she was not thinking about it, her thumb would go right back in her mouth. So we bought this thinking it would break the sleep time habit of thumb sucking. The first week we were hopeful as it prevented her from sucking her thumb. We are now on week 4 and I think the problem has gotten worse. She now sucks her thumb quite comfortably with the brace on. We do not want to tighten it down farther since we don't want to cut off her blood supply to her arm; it would be very tight. That is if she keeps the brace on, she pulls it off right away. She tolerated wearing it for about 2 weeks and that was it. Now it doesn't even matter if it's on, she just goes right to sucking. We still put it on at sleep times just so in middle of night the instinct may not win since there is more resistance but if you are looking for this to solidify and stop the thumb sucking it is not the product in my opinion. Great concept but just doesn't work. If you have a determined kid like mine, it won't work. Also now she tries to hide the thumb sucking and will not listen to verbally being told to stop. This was NOT the case prior to the brace. So the habit may have gotten worse. Plus we do not leave the brace on for long since it is a brace. Leaving it on too long would mess with fine motor development for sure. We were hopeful but if we had to do it all over again, probably would not buy. And not recommending to friends.

Does not work. Pictures and Description misleading
This product does not work. At all. I purchased at the end of October, now here we are, almost the middle of December, and we are still trying, unsuccessfully, to make it work. The picture and description shows that a child needs to use two hands to force a thumb into her mouth. That is not true. My daughter can get her thumb in her mouth wearing this device, no problem. The directions sent with the device state to tighten it, if a child can easily put their thumb in their mouth. Well, I could tighten it. But this will cut off blood flow to my daughter’s arm. So I am forced to choose between hurting her, or tying her into this device every night. It also takes her about 2 seconds to remove this from her arm. The only way we can keep it on her is to zip tie it-which we had to do, almost every night. I have serious moral issues with zip tying something on my three-year-old child. And because this wasn’t meant to be used every night for almost 2 months, its starting to fray and get worn. Any advertising on this device is misleading. I have not found any success other than physically forcing my child to wear this, and even then I’ve had to put another device on the thumb to keep her from sucking her thumb while she wears this first device—which was meant to keep her from sucking her thumb. I’m not even sure that this is actually accomplishing anything when she wears it. Do not waste your money.

Amazingly successful for a 2 yr old
I bought just one of these to use for my 2 yr old about a month after she turned 2. She was such a strong thumb sucker that she was doing it ALL day and every night and she had horrible open wounds on her thumb as well as a tough callus. I was so tired of it and really wanted to get ahead of the problem before it became more difficult to solve. I also already had tried the bitter nail polish thing when she was younger but it didn’t work at all. I am SO glad I found this tool and I’m also Super glad we did this so young! We used the Nipit only during the day and we combined it with zip-up PJ’s that have fold-over mittens (these were hard to find in the 2T size- we got Bellabu Bear brand Jammie’s). So we used the PJ’s to cover both hands at nap time and night time, and Nipit on the arm during the day. I was amazed that my kiddo really didn’t mind it at all. She cried for like 20 seconds the first time I put it on and then she didn’t care anymore. It didn’t prevent her from eating food or playing with toys or anything at all. And she couldn’t get the Velcro open. So we didn’t have to use the zip ties. After the first day, she actually Asked for me to put it on her every day afterwards! I think she liked it. We only needed to do the Nipit for about 2.5 weeks and we already noticed that her daytime habit was gone. We just forgot to put it on one day and realized we simply didn’t need it anymore! Then the next day we tried to stop covering her hands at night, but she went right back to the thumb. So we covered her hands again and just stuck with that a little longer for night time. About 2 weeks later, we forgot to cover her hands at night and she didn’t go for her thumb at all! I’m literally shocked that she has completely kicked the habit both day and night in just over 4 weeks! It’s like it never even happened. And the callus on her thumb is finally healing too. I was worried that would never go away. I think it needs another week or two, but 80% of the callus is completely gone already.

Extremely uncomfortable
We got this as it was suggested by our daughter's dentist. Extremely uncomfortable for the child when sleeping all night with it. It hurts and dirupts sleep. Its like sleeping with a cast basically. My daughter was so paranoid with the thought of this by her 2nd night in a row. She was actually pretty excited to try it before sleeping with it all night. She couldnt find a comfortable position to sleep with her arm being so stiff. She was upset that her arm was hurting around 4am and she wanted to scratch her other arm, but elbow wont bend lol. poor kid. I had to go in and scratch her other arm. All to say, this is not really a practical solution. I am going to try something else.

This helps in removing the habit of thumb sucking.
A two year old kid who has been sucking his thumb while sleeping since he was six months old and recently sometimes during the day when lounging around has now stopped thumb-sucking during the daytime after one week of using this product during his sleep. He has not completely abandoned this habit at night though if he is not wearing it. We will continue this exercise for a couple more weeks to see if he completely stops thumb-sucking without wearing it. Experience from day one: On the first day, when we tried it, he cried a lot because he always slept with his thumb in his mouth. At one point, he even tried using his other hand to help his thumb in reaching his mouth, which he succeeded in doing but could not sustain for long as it required a lot of effort from him. After the first night, the rest of the nights were much better. The only thing to keep in mind is that he needs to wear this whenever he sleeps without fail. The only downside I would say is that $40+tax(close to $45) seems a bit high for this product, but considering it's for a child health, I would be willing to pay for it. However, I would recommend exploring cheaper alternatives if available, as the concept of this wearable is straightforward. Another concern I initially had was regarding blood circulation while wearing this, but after the first use, I didn't had much concern but if you're worried about it, please consult your pediatrician. I will edit this feedback after a month to provide more details on his habit.

Utilizzato su una bambina di 6 anni. Ottimi risultati!

It Genuinely Works!
Thumb sucking has been a major issue with my daughter, but it’s now a thing of the past. And it’s all thanks to the Nipit thumb guard. My daughter is three years old, so she’s towards the lower range of the thumb guard but it fits on her nicely. Naturally, the majority of fitting it is down to the parent, but it’s a simple enough design. Fitting it doesn’t involve much of a struggle and it’s on pretty quickly. Most importantly it’s made from soft materials that are comfortable and haven’t caused any friction marks on my daughter. She’s happy to wear it and I put this down to the comfort on offer and the bright colourful design. And she’s stopped sucking her thumb! Naturally, she found the restrictive action of the thumb guard unusual at first, but she also seemed to enjoy the ceremony of putting the guard on. She wasn’t particularly happy that she couldn’t get her thumb to her mouth, but this soon subsided. It’s also much more preferable than the alternative methods available such as painting on that foul tasting nail polish. The stickers from the reward chart have also gone down a storm. We’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks, but there’s been a significant reduction in the time spent sucking her thumb when the guard is off. In about a month or so I think the thumb sucking will be completely eliminated. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Great!
This is working great so far. Our son is 5 and we thought he is big enough not to suck thumb any more. He only sucks at night and when he holds his favourite cuddles. We decided the deadline was Easter Sunday and he agreed to start then. I called it his super arm that will give him superpowers to be able to stop sucking his finger. I encouraged him also by promising a toy he really wants at the end if we are successful in stopping completely. So far we are four days in and he has gone to bed willing and excited for another night and another reward star. I will revise review once he completes the 5 weeks. The arm band is comfy, soft and I only fasten it very loosely over his pajamas since he said he wont remove it. We havent used the tiestraps, but they would be useful for kids that are removing the band. So far worth the money for us to break a habit he was born with.

ARTIKEL NOOIT ONTVANGEN
