yes it smells, hold your nose, it works
YES IT SMELLS BAD but it works if used correctly. I give this to my senior cat who gets horrible explosive diarrhea if not supplemented. I had to calibrate her dosage based on the amount of food I was giving to her. She gets 2.2 ounces of (about 3/4 of a 3 ounce can) of fancy feast chicken pate 3 times a day (I weigh it on a kitchen scale) I then use micro measuring spoons for the enzymes, 1/16th and 1/32 of enzymes for each meal, this is the amount of food she can handle without it overwhelming her digestive system. I mix well and then let it sit for at least 15 minutes. She is also in the grey zone for hyperthyroid which makes her very hungry and will eat anything but she also appears to have issues digesting fat and that is where this supplement helps. I am in the process of finding a lower fat food, fancy feast is 5% and I am looking for 3% or lower as this would take the burden off the pancreas to digest the fat. For everyone complaining about the smell, animals eat worse things that smell bad, this has porcine pancreas in it (pig pancreas) so there, hold your nose.

Cats coming from rescued environment NEED this!
OK so after spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on vet bills and fecal testing kittens came from Costa Rica) even though they were supposedly dewormed etc. They had unbelievable diarrhea. I have the Purina Breeze litter box system and I use it because it's absolutely the best thing for someone with physical strength issues. However, changing these pellets out after their use was financially prohibitive. I know for a fact the nutrition they received in CR was horrid. First off, that country hates cats they're not indoor animals (they don't sell cat litter in pet stores -- that should tell you all). Secondly I knew the mother of these babies did not receive proper nutrition either. After trying all the remedies the vets told me about and giving a couple of months adjusting to good wet food. I decided maybe this has everything to do with their little bodies not having proper digestive enzymes. I have done a lot of research on cat food and I know Cats CANNOT/should not have carbs (something mother and babies had) I purchased this product as research has proven I'm able trust Dr. Becker and Dr. Mercola. I sprinkled on their food and neither one of my kittens would touch it after. Yes, cats are picky eaters, but these guys came from nothing I was hoping they wouldn't notice. I then put less that the amount rexommended just a pinch and buried it in there food - success!! I absolutely cannot tell you how much of a difference this product has made on them! NO MORE diarrhea no more stinky poops no more feeling horrible. They have more energy are happier and my litter boxes work again! I love the breeze system (do not use pine pellets- if you have more than one cat this system allowed me to see blood in urine and fecal matter- it a safe non smelly system in my book. But back to digestive enzymes. It absolutely works!!! I put a tiny bit in there food twice a day. It has made such a difference i wish vets would recommend this! Instead of $300 dollar tests. I didn't need to figure out allergies mine needed something they were lacking probably from birth! The cat food globally sorry but it's trash I am learning (still trying to find a good multivitamin to add to homemade cat food). But you don't have to wait weeks for this to work it worked on both off them in 2 days!!! This is absolutely the best product out there highly highly recommend!!!

Dogs love it
Great product! Sulpur like smell, we disguise by pouring water over it. Both dogs eat it up.

So far, so good.
I purchased this enzyme after reading several articles. I have a 14 y.o. 6 pound Boston terrier and a 10 y.o. Boston terrier that is 11 pounds. I had been reading for my 15.5 year old pug since he seemed to be loosing strength in his back legs. It seemed that the info said older animals can't get the nutrients they need because as animals (and people) age they have less and less enzymes available to digest and get the nutrition they need from their food. So I have used Dr. Mercola's products and have read numerous articles that he has on his website. I figured if I was going to try an enzyme for dogs, that I would try his first. A lot of the reviews said it smelled really bad....I notice no smell. I use a small portion for my dogs since they are quite small. I feed them a real food diet. They get chicken or beef with some veggies and rice. They also get vitamins. They have not had any problem eating their food with this enzyme product on the food. Flat face dogs have an issue with gas, just because they take in a lot of air when eating. It seems that since they have been on this (four weeks now 2-4-19) that they are having less gas. When they have gas, WAY LESS potent! Our smallest Boston has always had soft stool, her stool seems to be more firm, like it should be. I am happy with the product. I will update with any changes. This product will probably last me for months because it is a decent size and my dogs are small and receive a small dose. Which anyone starting out with this should start out with a small dose and give time to adjust and build up to the right dose for their weight dog.

Good for my cats
I believe digestive enzymes help animals just as they do us humans in breaking down what we eat. I use it because I have a large number of cats in my home and can only afford to feed them one type of food. Believe the enzymes help the cats that have trouble digesting the kibble. Being able to sprinkle it over the food is great.

Excellent set of enzymes to help cats with digestive issues
These enzymes are working great. This enzyme is cultivated from pork and not veggies. Because it is animal-based, it has a smell to it, but mixed with a good food some picky cats will still eat it. From what I have seen from research online, animal-based enzymes work better for animals. Veggie-based enzymes will have no smell to them, however they will be less potent when used. So there is a definite trade off here. I could see a veggie-based enzymes being very useful for extremely picky cats. In our experience, mixing it into wet food has made it so that they eat it no problem. Putting it on top will not work well it needed to be mixed thoroughly for our cats. This enzyme mixture is diverse and perfect for a cat with digestive issues. The price is also very good. Directions of use: *Half a scoop per day *Divide it up between meals This jar of enzymes is actually decently sized and will last a while. I could see it lasting 4-6 months between four cats. I have attached pictures with dimensions. Pros: *Great mixture of enzymes *Picky cats will still eat it *Large quantity Cons: *Has a smell, so it will be off-putting for some cats (-1/2 a star) Additional Considerations: *Make sure that you read the directions carefully. Any directions I have given here fit what was shipped to me after ordering this product. However it is always possible for products to be changed over time. Overall: 4.5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 stars If you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Not the same as the Mercola product
We used Mercola Digestive Enzymes for years to keep the cat's teeth clean and breath fresh. The Mercola product worked effectively. But this replacement product, Bark and Whiskers, is not the same. It smells bad. (The Mercola product had no odor.) Both the Bark and Whiskers product and the cat's breath have a foul odor. More importantly, the new product was upsetting the cat's stomach. It took weeks to figure this out, because we trusted the brand. He had diarrhea (or loose, soft stools) and was crying in pain intermittently throughout the day. Discontinuing this product has solved all the problems - firm stool, fresh breath, no more crying. We threw this away and have gone back to using Dr. Goodpet Feline Digestive Enzymes.

Good quality, but caused an allergic reaction in my sensitive bulldog
I have an English Bulldog — a very sensitive breed — and while I think Bark & Whiskers makes great products, this particular digestive enzyme didn’t agree with my dog. He liked the taste and had no issue eating it, but shortly after starting it, he broke out in hives. As soon as we stopped using it, the hives quickly started to clear up. I don’t have anything negative to say about the company — I still believe their ingredients and quality are excellent. It just seems my dog had an allergic reaction to something in this formula, which can happen with sensitive breeds. I’m sharing our experience in case it helps other pet parents with bulldogs or dogs that have allergy issues.

Seems to be working very well
i was ordering this as a last resort as one of my dogs has constantly suffered with stomach upsets but no 'condition' found. She would go off food regularly, have a gurgling stomach, eat grass as though it was going out of fashion and them vomit great balls of it up again at regular intervals, she was also very quiet and seemed depressed. After a few days of starting this I saw a definite change in her. She has been on it for 2 weeks now and hasn't had a problem with grass eating/gurgling/wind/going off food once in that time. She has also started to play with my other dog and seems so much happier. Coincidence? maybe.. but I shall carry on with it for the forseeable
