What are the temperature specifications ? Can I use this close to a heating element submerged in water once it dried ?

I used it to seal the outside of the heating element on my dishwasher... the flange wouldn’t make a complete seal around the outside, so it leaked water. Still working great after several months.

I have a tube of this. Can I use it to install a bathroom sink?

Accepted Answer

It is not like other silicone used in bathroom/shower installs. One specific difference is that those bathroom/shower silicones contain anti-microbial protection against mold & mildew. 
This is a food grade safe silicone, so those anti-microbial additives aren’t included in this formula. Also, it takes 72 hours to cure properly.

Question 3

I'm interested in using this to repair a Chemex coffee maker. Crack is near the top. My concerns are about the heat  and about food safety. Thoughts?

Nothing other than a talented glass blower can fix a Chemex glass coffee filter cone. A crack in the borosilicate glass will grow under the stress of thermal expansion. In theory you can pre-heat the entire piece and repair the area and anneal and cool the piece, in practice it would cost much more to pay someone to do that than to buy a new Chemex. It’s an ,aesthetically pleasing way to make coffee, but you have to make peace with the idea that It requires exceptionally careful handling to achieve an average working life of 2 years In daily use. There are many other cone type coffee filter coffee makers that produce coffee quite well if you lose interest in the aesthetic experience.

Question 4

how do i clean out the plastic long applicator so i can reuse it? i don't want sealant to dry in there and clog it, rendering the applicator useless.

I have had no problem with the product drying in the nozzle.  At most I had to pick put the very tip, the rest stays wet enough to flow again when pressure is applied to the tube.  I used a strong toothpick or a shishkebob stick to get a dry plug out if that happened.  But 9 out of 10 ten uses it did not clog.
