A very compact high performing camera.
I like this camera very much because it is very small, thin and light and fits easily in my shirt pocket, enabling me to always carry my camera with me. It would easily fit in a small lady's handbag, taking up minimal amount of space. The specification is high for a small camera with a 7x zoom and 20 megapixel sensor. The camera takes pleasing photographs with good brightness and good colour accuracy and saturation. I have photographed plants, trees, flowers and people and have not had a bad photograph. The flower colours were accurate and pleasing. Photographs of people come out well because a nice photograph is obtained without showing skin imperfections. It is a good camera for taking complimentary photographs of girls' faces. I have bought several of these little Nikon cameras (Coolpix S3100, Coolpix S3300 and Coolpix S3500) and given them as Christmas and Birthday presents and all recipients have reported that they are very pleased with the good performance of these little cameras.

Top Notch Camera
I previoulsy had the s3100 Compact Camera, which is a camera i love. However my s3100 is my holiday camera and my holidays mainly consist of roller coasters, so needless to say it has been through the wars a little bit! This camera seemed like a good upgrade from the one i already had. It not too different in the workings, but is of a higher spec. The photos that i have taken so far have been of great quality and it is a really light and easy camera to use. It is a little fatter than the one i had before, but it is still a nice 'pocket size' which is exactly what i need. the only thing id say is that when you have it on the highest settings, it does take a mintee or two to finish recording, which i can get a little annoyed with, i like my camera to be quite snappy, but by lowering the settings a wee bit, you can get over this, or leave it if your not in a rush! Great for just having a wee camera that fits into your back pocket!

THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE ONE
Prices fluctuate; priced at £82.45 when I purchased it. Ok lets do the negative first: The processor in this camera is slow. This camera is packed with features and the zoom and MP were what caught my eye. Sadly though it cannot process pictures with any amount of speed. This means that there is a distinct pause in the time you press the shutter and the photo actually being captured. There after the longest pause I had from capture to being ready for the next shot was 8 seconds (yes my frustration lead me to actually time it). This can be really frustrating in trying to "capture" those shots as what you see is not what you get. The other reviews speak true it is a good camera for everyday use, but it will let you down on the pause. Also I tried to mitigate this by finding the snap shot function, but this camera has not got it. As I said packed with features, but only a few of them are relevant to "everyday use requirements". So you may save a few pounds, but you may disappointed. You cannot capture fireworks, even with the fireworks setting. Kids and sports are always blurred and captured late. It's not all bad, the camera does capture good still shots and the features it comes with are vast for such a small inexpensive unit. The zoom is also really good for a point and shoot. Summary: Bad: Shutter speed Processor Speed Some features over sell themselves Good: Zoom and MP Packed with features Video Nikon quality Price

Great little camera when it works !
I have never written a review on here before so there's a first time for everything. I bought this camera for my wife in July 2013 and it has performed very well. My normal camera is a bulky Canon SLR however I have used the Nikon whenever I have been on a business trip or a family outing. Even with a case, the Nikon hardly takes up any room in a jacket pocket. All was well until today March 21st, the CCD appears to have gone faulty. I have always wanted to see the aurora borealis but not on the LCD screen when pointing the camera at my garden. I am within the 12 month guarantee period however I could not see anything on the website showing that I was entitled to a refund or a guarantee. I feared I was in for a difficult conversation with Amazon. The people at Amazon have responded instantly to my request for a callback which was very impressive. I asked the agent if they could send another camera but he could not find one available for dispatch. Perhaps he was looking at the .com website as there are plenty on the .co.uk website ? The great news is that the price of the camera will be refunded once I have returned the faulty one to them (free postage). The agent was extremely helpful and there was no quibble over the problem so 10 out of 10 goes to Amazon for the customer experience. Now the question is "will I buy a like for like" replacement ? Overall, we were very happy with the Nikon so I will order another when the refund comes through. I guess we were just unlucky with this one. It's a good little performer and I am more than happy to give Nikon another try. Four stars from me !

Great Camera!
I wanted to upgrade my current digital camera that I have had for a few years, so I wanted a camera with the following features: more mega pixels, optical zoom with clear sound while recording, while in optical zoom - I didn't would that bee hummer sound while it was zooming and I wanted the sound still recording while it zoomed, a rechargeable battery without the need to be stocking up on AA or AA batteries and for the movie to be exported as AVI format. I can say this covered all these features I was after and all for under £100. I have been impressed with it so far. The camera takes good picture and very good video footage. It is also compatible with SD card so you don't have to get a SDHC unless you are going to be taking a lot of pictures and video. It also has other features like a macro mode for close up pictures, even though I am still trying to master this mode as my close up shots seem to come up blurry but a few of my images were very clear in macro mode. Great camera overall in my opinion at a great price with 20MP and 7 x optical zoom....brilliant.

Pretty certain this is not 20.1 megapixel.
I purchased this camera due to the claims of it having a high pixel rate. The quality of the images is average to poor. I was hoping to be able to crop into larger areas for use in artwork but the images are very pixelated without much zooming in. It's fine if you are creating digital content but poor if you want to crop in to areas of the picture and I suspect it will be useless for printed work. Maybe I've got a faulty one - hard to say. The camera itself is very nicely made and compact and great for fun snaps but I guess you get what you pay for.

Decent pictures, slim case.
The Nikon Coolpix S3500 camera is a highly competent point-and-shoot compact, with a very pocketable slim case, and an easy to use interface. The intended audience for this camera is clearly non-enthusiast photographers, which means you're up and running taking great pictures in no time at all. Tellingly, when I got this camera back from my kids, pretty much all of the pictures came out in focus, in contrast to the last camera I lent them, where almost every picture was blurred and/or out of focus. If you want good pictures, without all the fuss and bulk of a bridge camera, or the expense of a DSLR, this little Coolpix will happily fit the bill, and slip into your pocket nicely.

A Very Stylish Gift
Slim, Sleek and a joy to use. You'll need to buy yourself a memory card as the on-board memory is ridiculously small as to warrant the question why both having it at all? I picked-up a 64GB Card for £34 and is childsplay to install. The camera is really easy to use with a suit of interesting and useful pre & post-production features. The battery recharges quickly compare to my former Canon IXUS 400 and will last you a busy days shooting. For those needing a mid-day boost you can always buy yourself an additional battery and charger. The Nikon software that is included is very easy to install and operate. The supplied USB cable will allow you to recharge the camera from either your computer of the supplied plug/transformer. Well worth money for a 20 Megapixel work of art.
