Does anyone know the difference between the SM4B and M4B

I ordered both and the only difference I have found is the SM4B has cheaper packaging. The SM4B comes with a simple cardboard backed print package, covered in a stiff plastic, glued to the cardboard. The M4B comes with a nicer black cardboard box. The Pens themselves are identical as far as I can tell. Both are metal construction with nice clips in matte black.

Does it write in the rain?

According to Fisher Space Pen, their Sealed Pressurized Ink Cartridge "Writes under water", Performs in temperatures from -30ºF to +250ºF, in zero gravity, at any angle–even upside down!

Would two of these easily fit into the pen slot on a police uniform left breast pocket? What about a snugger 5.11 Class B breast pocket?

Might be a smidge tight, but two will fit in my uniform pocket. I carry one of these in my shirt and a Fisher X-Mark in my pants pocket as a spare. A bullet pen would work in the pocket, too, but get a clip for it. Otherwise, it will roll off the hood of the squad and your partner will step on it. They're practically indestructible, but the pavement scars them and they look like hell after that. Be careful out there.
