Has anybody tried changing the batteries and if so, any tips to opening  the battery compartment without breaking the unit?

Hi, You don't even need to remove Fridggi, just press the front cover from the downside ( you can see the sign: UP >>) and gently slide it up. You will see three batteries; remember the + and - position (take a photo), then replace the 3xLR44 (or AG13) batteries, press batteries to push them in place (start With sided batteries then push 3rd one between them), slide down gently the cover.

Question 2

Would this device work on a garage door, most door alarms just go off when you open the door, I want an alarm for if I leave the door open? Thanks

Please note that this is not made for a garage door because it requires a flat surface and less than 2cm between alarm and magnet sensor, but if you are a DYI expert, you can adapt it for garage use. FRIDGGI Mode 1,2, and 3 are useless on significant distance, but mode 4 (SET BUTTON = 4 beeps) have a loud 110dB alerts.

I have a fridge freezer and want to use it just for the freezer can it go at the bottom as no room at the top.

It is made of two parts, one goes on the door, the other one on a fixed part of the fridge, so that when the door is closed the two parts line up, as soon a they do not the beeping will start. So, if you want it in the bottom, there must be a section under the door itself to secure the other part to, so that the two parts of the device are very close without quite touching.

Does it work even if the door is open a few cms?

Ohhh yes ! It’ll beep while the door is only just open (if positioned correctly) the sound the alarm after the chosen time period. I should really get another one for the freezer; I’ve never left the ‘fridge open since I got the first one.
