Professional Watercolour Sable Brush, One-Stroke ⅛"

Perfect brush, condition and service!

This is a more expensive version of the W&N Series 660 One-stroke that got discontinued in the 2010s. I worked at an art supply store when I first got out of college and the local art academy had every student buy that brush for their introductory class so I'm pretty familiar with it. The brush is all natural and and a kolinsky sable brush so it'll last as long as you keep in good condition. I buy a few each couple of years, so they're pretty worth it. If you want your brushes to last, just don't leave them in water for long periods of time. I just clean it and dry it after ever application and the brush will last you a couple of years.

This brush is great. I had to buy one to stop stealing my wife's brush. However, Amazon just tossed it in a soft envelope and some of my bristles were smooshed thankfully they weren't too damaged. Check me out on Instagram @_the.tyler.wolf_

Lays down washes nice, It has lost a few bristles which I would not expect of a brush of this quality

Very little to say except great brush. I do have a 3/4 wash from Princeton's Elite series as well as the Silver Black Velvet line, (both are a combo of synthetic and sable) but those still can feel a little streaky, this brush is so much softer than either of those two which equals more even washes.

Windsor Newton is always tops for me. A trusted brand. And the sable brush is perfect!

Not Kolinsky, perhaps not even Sable. I have decades of experience with watercolor brushes, specifically Kolinsky sable. This brush is too stiff, it never snaps to a sharp edge, and it readily splits into several clumps to produce a striped stroke. See photo for some sample strokes. The two possibilities—neither good—are that it’s dyed ox, or that it’s sable/weasel that has had the points razored off the tuft instead of being tapped to make them the same length. The beginning of a one-stroke brushstroke should be clean and square, not this ragged mess. The only decent thing about this horrible brush is that holds a lot more liquid than a synthetic, as is usual with any natural hair brush. Avoid this brush! Winsor and Newton should be ashamed of this made in China travesty.

suite à un 1er exemplaire manquant de tranche, le second est parfait. Le pinceau se gorge d'eau en gardant une belle tranche fine et précise. Les pinceaux winsor de cette gamme sont surprenants par le manche, long et d'une forme "ergonomique" ce qui peut rebuter certains utilisateurs je pense. Concernant ce pinceau plat, sa longue touffe est un atout pour travailler longtemps, pas mal aussi pour aller chercher la peinture vis à vis d'un pinceau plat court. Je pense qu'il peut remplacer un pinceau lavis en petit gris si on a un rond pointu à côté.

- Da rivedere il metodo di spedizione di questo pennello, ricevuto in busta di cartone senza alcun tipo di protezione delle setole - Le setole sono solo di qualità solo mediocre e non sono condizionate, i veri sable di qualità hanno prezzi 10 volte superiori - Le setole trattengono bene l acqua e il colore viene sparso in modo uniforme ma queste tendono ad aprirsi facilmente invece che rimanere compatte ( ho acquistato un serie 7 in passato e si comportava uguale ), ergo sembra più una scopa quando non totalmente bagnato o asciutto e non funziona nemmeno il condizionamento con sapone, allego foto - Traendo le somme un buon tuttofare senza pretese, non so che tipo di sable siano, probabilmente quelle di peggiore qualità scartate, e non lo chiamerei professionale, va bene per mescolare gli acquarelli in tavolozza e fare zone in wash, non lo consiglierei per altro, anche per il modo in cui tendono ad aprirsi le setole è impensabile per fare linee o tratti.
