RMS Featherweight the Original Reacher 2-Pack (26-inch)

If you need a reacher for clothing to get dressed, this is the only one you should buy. My original one I got from an occupational therapist. It worked wonderfully to grab onto underwear and pants. My original one lasted about 8 years. When looking for a replacement, I found that all the rest were just reachers for grabbing objects. I needed this one because the claw is slim and rubberized with grooves. Others just didn’t work. I panicked one day when my original one broke because I quite literally could not dress without it. I was smart enough to look up occupational reachers and found exact same one. It is a lifesaver for me. Wouldn’t/ can’t use any other type. Highly recommend.

Bought several of these but this time they got it right for the holder for my walker, it actually worked! Great for keeping it handy. The last one I bought it broke the first time I tried to connect to my walker.. I can’t do without them

When I first saw this, I thought it looked wimpy. It does look wimpy. Looks can be deceiving. It is a great tool, light but strong. It can pick up fairly heavy objects, like a can of soda. Plus, the jaw opens widely to accommodate most household objects. The cord that operates the jaw is replaceable. In emergencies, although I wouldn't put heavy weight on it, I use it as a cane to steady myself. I have used the "hook" to pull some pretty heavy storage boxes. I would buy it again.

OK so let me start by saying it's a terrific deal to get two for the price of $20 when many of these are selling for almost that, for one. As my review title states, the hospital recommended this for me for when I was at home and trying to pick things up and get dressed on my own after spine surgery. Thank heaven for it, really, because I didn't have a helper to get me dressed at home and trust me, after surgery, you're lucky as hell if you can still pull up your own drawers. If you're trying to get tights, tight pants, or leggings on--don't. Esp. if you have limited strength. This will help you get looser pants on like sweats or a yoga pant. Just grip the underwear or pant leg at the side and you can slide your foot in the leg opening even if you have to drop your underwear or pants onto the ground to do it (because you can't lift your leg very high). If you've had spine surgery, this is VERY hard to do. Having this grabber will make it easier to dress alone. Also if you're really tall and can't bend, this would be a struggle to use. It's just barely long enough for me at 5'8" tall. I have used it to pick up things as small as dropped raisins on the floor, and yeah that was pretty great. I didn't realize until a few weeks in that there's a magnet on the tip of the shaft, so if you drop a smallish screw or a pin, you'll be able to get it. However, there are limitations to this style grabber and I think if you're going to be disabled and using it, you're going to also need the other style grabber to do the things that this one cant. There is a yellow thing on the shaft of the grabber which fits onto a walker perfectly, BUT since I use my grabber all day long--the plastic clip soon stretched out a bit and the grabber would fall on the floor. That's when I was grateful to have a second grabber! The product is great for most of what I do but I still struggle with getting my slim android phone off the floor, and I drop it all the time. This would be fine to pick up a flip phone or a phone with a ring or something to grab onto. I have to maneuver it with my foot to get the dropped phone kind of vertical, to pick it up. Also this is not going to help you get a credit card or a business card off the floor. It does not do 'flush' objects well. I still love it for most of my daily activities. I've been contemplating getting the hinged grabbers with the suction style tops to do some of what this one can't. But then-- I am not supposed to be lifting anything and if I can't lift with this then I really shouldn't be attempting the lift. I have been able to use this for wiping up things that i plopped on the floor, like scrambled egg. I am able to drop a paper towel on the item and use the grabber to pick up the blob and the towel both. So It's been really helpful. I can't load my dishwasher's lower tray with this grabber. My plates are too heavy. I've been able to still play with the cat and use this to pick up cat toys or drag a shoelace or something, though, because the claw grip is pretty good at hanging onto small things--so we're both happy about that. It can be a challenge to pick up a cat dish or bowl, so don't bother trying to feed kitty cat on the floor with a water dish or something. I spilled the cat's stuff too many times trying to make it happen and he gets spooked when i drop the dishes. Now I feed him on the countertop. I'd say that in two months' time, I've more than gotten my money's worth out of this product. No it can't do everything I need, but I think I've done all right with it. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 only because I can't do dishes with this, but I am grateful for the grabber every day.

This item was purchased mostly for the need of picking items from the floor which I frequently drop while painting antique furniture; even the tiniest of objects have proved no challenge for this grabber. For someone with physical limitations such as a bad back or knees, it is quite helpful. The handle is easy to grasp and trigger pulls with minimal effort from my arthritic hands. I even used it quite a lot while cleaning out a very full garage but will definitely need a sturdier reacher to get heavier items from the shelves. From my very high kitchen cabinets the same applies. Anything heavier than say 12 oz did require me to squeeze tight and be ready to catch it. Outdoor clean-up has been a breeze; it even grabbed large bunches of wet pine needles for disposal. I liked that it is a 2 pack as I keep one in my art room and another in the laundry. It's great for my short self getting items from inside my large capacity washing machine. I am much the better for having this item and feel less physical strain from less reaching, bending and squatting. Overall, I am pleased. I'll be ordering another for those heavier items. I'd much rather have a second reacher/grabber than go get a ladder.

Excellent value and very sturdy! I have had this item for 8 years using it almost every day, and it's just now starting to lose its grip a little! Definitely recommend!

Kicks butt! I’ve owned plenty of other kinds as a wheelchair occupant. The goofy design solves most problems. Pulls heavy items which others fail at. BULLY!

So far (about a week), these are great! Lightweight, and the grabber tip closes tightly enough to pick up small items. Another brand I tried could not pick up tiny things because the tips of the claw did not close together tightly enough. These are very precise - I can pick up bits of lint or paper or reach for a tissue and pull it out of the box. These fine little movements make a LOT of difference in your day-to-day living. The price for two was very reasonable, too. UPDATE: AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS, THE CLAW PART GOT WOBBLY AND THE FINE GRIP WAS NOT ALWAYS RELIABLE. THIS IS DUE TO THE WEAK METAL USED IN THE "HINGES" AND THE FACT THAT THE STRING THAT THE HANDLE PULLS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE CLAW STARTS TO STRETCH OUT. I WOULD PAY A BIT MORE IF THE MANUFACTURER WOULD EMPLOY BETTER, sturdier MATERIALS THAT WOULD LAST. I had to lower my rating from 5 stars to only 3.

They work OK the magnet is not the strongest, but can lift small objects. As with most most grabbers, it’s hard to pick paper up off the floor, but it works well with things that have contours.

After breaking any number of competitor grabbers which always fail at the plastic mechanism pieces, I have gone back to buying these. The part that matter are housed within an aluminium channel, and - as a result - don't wear out. It can't be over-strained no matter how strong your hand strength. Can pick up things twice as heavy as any other grabber I have bought. And, I have bought a few. You can go for the cheap rubbish that won't last out a year, or get these. The oldes one I have of these is so old, I can't even remember when I bought it. And still going strong.

Please do yourselves a favour and don't buy any other garbage. After breaking about 10 plastic pieces-of-crap that I bought from the local shops, I bought the original grabber. Which is this one. that 12 about 6 years ago. Simple design that just lasts. Mainly because of the simple sting-pull-design; and the fact that the actual shaft is made out of reinforced aluminium channel. If you buy this product, it will LAST.

Grippy, strong, simple mechanics. Some damage may be repaired by some users themselves.

This is a great tool but handy to remember that 70cm requires some bending. Great grip though and well built
