I really like this kitchen scale. I wanted to upgrade from a regular kitchen scale to digital & this one is still working 8 years later? It was reasonably priced too. It is thin & a small enough size that I can store it on its side in my bread box. It will easily fit in a cabinet, drawer, etc or tucked away elsewhere. I use it when I am freezing bigger packs of meat & when I am making hamburgers to make sure they are equal in size. It is very handy when I am making a batch of pasties & weigh out the same amounts of each ingredient so they all have the same amount of filling. I have used it to divy up larger packages of snacks too - I have some small covered condiment cups & I can use the scale to measure out individual snack portions. Buying in bulk & dividing the food into smaller packages saves money - individual snack packs are more expensive because there's more packaging involved. Buy some reusable covered containers & make your own. I even use it to weigh letters to make sure that I have enough postage on them. It's handy for small packages too. The AccuWeight scale is easy to use. It has multiple measurement types & uses regular batteries & they are easy to change. It's easy to clean too. I always use a plate/bowl/pan on it & tare it to zero before I start. The only thing I think some people might not like is that it's shiny black & will show fingerprints/dust, etc. I personally don't mind & just wipe it off before & after using. Even with fingerprints, it's a handy little scale!

2nd REWRITE of the REVIEW: I had originally written a good review then revised it downward after further usage confirmed the scale was giving inaccurate readings when weighing larger amounts of items that are not solid/stable - e.g. water that sloshes around in the container. I returned my first scale to Amazon for a full refund. "My tronics" (the seller) reached out to me and wanted to send me a new Accuweight scale, even though I had already received a refund. They said that they stand behind their product and want every customer to be satisfied. True to their word, they sent a new scale, at no cost to me. I was skeptical at first, and doubted that it would be any good. Well, I was wrong. I have been using the replacement scale and have compared the readings to another scale we have, and I am convinced it is functioning perfectly. I believe the original scale was a fluke and that the quality of the product is very good. I have tested it with different types of materials, sitting in different spots on the weighing surface, and I am happy with the consistently accurate performance. I also love the fact that this scale has a flat, smooth weighing surface. This design gives it a sleek, classy look, and also makes for easier cleaning. The tare function works perfectly, and while I have not actually timed it, it gives me plenty of time to add each ingredient. I have not had it reset on me. The Accuweight switches easily between the different units of measurement. All in all, I love it! UPDATE AFTER EXTENSIVE USE: I have both this scale and another scale of the style that has a raised circular weighing platform, with the control buttons on the top of the scale, just in front of the circular platform. Since the two scales function with equal accuracy, and this one is definitely more attractive. this one at first seems like the better choice. Well, even though I love the looks of this one, the design has one drawback. Because the on/off control is on the front edge, it is easily bumped. The scale is often being turned on by accident. This is a real annoyance for me. Depending on where you keep your scale and whether you work in the area next to it, this might not be an issue for you. I just thought I should share my experience. Since this may not be an issue for other users, I am going to retain the five stars.

With the Lose It! App I need to weigh every food that I eat. So I pulled out the scale I already owned only to discover it was not working properly- even after replacing the battery. I don't know if I was more annoyed that the scale was broken or that I wasted a trip to the store to buy the special button battery the scale required. So when I needed to replace the scale, one priority was to have the scale run on batteries I always have on hand. But other pro to this food scale is the large, easy to clean glass surface. The scale easily switches between measurements and with a quick push of a button allows you to zero the scale with something on the platform. Zero the scale (tare) so the weight of the container is not included in the measurement of the food's weight. I like to place a slice of bread directly on the scale and build the sandwich from there. Stack the ham and get the weight. Hit the tare button and and then stack the Swiss cheese to determine the weight of just the cheese. The other slice of bread is placed on the scale, hit the tare button and spread the light mayo on the bread to determine how much is used. This is much easier and quicker than measuring with a tablespoon. My first scale was bought in a store where options are always limited. This time around my online purchase allowed me to see more to choose from. This scale works fantastically at a great price. I wish this was the first scale I ever bought. Live and learn.

The scale looks good, sleek, shiny with a bold, easy to read display. The surface area is ample allowing you to put larger items or bowls on it with ease. To really test the scale, I used a set of calibrated weights from Rice Lake Weighing Systems to check the scales accuracy. Measurements were taken in grams starting at 3g and increasing to 3500g. Ratios are given as (Test Weight)/(Scale Weight). Overall, the scale is pretty good, maintaining accuracy within 1% of the actual value. However, for a few dollars more, you can get a scale such as the Etekcity which performs the same at the low end and better at the high end of the scale range. Test values are below (Test Weight)/(Scale Weight): 3/3 5/5 10/10 20/20 30/30 50/50 100/100 500/496 1000/996 2000/1992 3000/2990 3500/3488 ***Some caveats on the above readings. This was an informal test of one unit from Accuweight. Your unit may be more or less accurate than reported in these results. The advertised accuracy is "This 11lb/5kg scale weighs accurately to 0.1oz/1g fine increments." This is not true. Measurements are within 1% of actual value, but they are NOT always within 1g of the actual value.***

*Edit: 4 years later (11/11/19): This is still a great scale. I think I've used this on average for about 5 minutes a day for the last 4 years, and the rest of the time it's lived on my counter top. I've had to change batteries once during that time, a year or so ago, so great battery life. It's still in great shape, looks basically the same as it did new. One of the advantages of the glass top! ***Original review: I've been using this for a couple of months now, and it is very nice. I love having the glass top: makes it much easier for cleanup. Tare function works well. This unit also seems to have a much longer "on" time than a lot of other scales out there. When it is reading 0, it will time out after maybe a minute; but if it's not at 0, it will stay on for several minutes. This is very convenient. It is also easy to turn off by just holding the tare button for a couple of seconds, so no wasting battery. One warning: this scale will only work properly if it is on a flat and solid surface. Its strain gauges are placed in each of the four feet, and if the feet aren't properly placed (and of course supporting all of the weight), the measurement will probably not be correct. For example, if you set this on a thick tablecloth or placemat, it is quite likely that the feet will sink down in the fabric, allowing the bottom of the scale to rest on the fabric. So if you need to use it on a soft surface, you'll probably want to have something solid to put under it (like a cutting board or something)

I wrote a review when I received this originally stating that this is a great little sc cale as no exactly what I was looking for. Easy to use. Easy to read. However, I then put it in the cupboard awaiting the end of an upcoming vacation after which I was starting the Keto diet and would need a scale. Taking it out of the cupboard, it wouldn't turn on. I changed the batteries twice. No go. Well, it's now way after the return window and I wondered if perhaps there was a procedure to turn it on that I no longer remembered (and I couldn't find the manual), so I wrote the company of manufacture and asked about turning it on. Much to my surprise, they told me they were sending a replacement . I would have bought a new one, the price is so good, but the seller went above and beyond. This is a good product and the integrity of the company is phenomenal. I will look for their other products for future purchases. I am a loyal customer for life.

This scale is great! This replaces an old walmart brand digital scale that was annoying to use. pros: - Remembers the last units used after power back on, so I can keep it on the unit I use the most. The walmart scale didn't do this. - Easily switches between all the units with a single button. The walmart scale required me to flip it over and tap a button to switch to metric units (grams, ml); which it didn't remember after it powered off. - Doesn't automatically turn on when something is placed on it. This allows me to leave it on the counter, and set things temporarily on it without worrying about draining the battery. - The auto turn off period is just right. It'll turn off after 3 minutes of inactivity on a non zero value, and 1 minute of inactivity on a zero value. The walmart scale was always turning off in the middle of me trying to incrementally add items to a dish. - Uses typical AAA batteries. The walmart scale used a button cell which I didn't usually readily have on hand. cons: - The digital readout seems a bit slow to update, but seems to work well enough. The walmart scale was a bit quicker, but the values did jump around a bit, so I guess that's the compromise. workarounds - As with most flat scales it can be hard to read the display when large plates or other things cover the display. There are several tricks I've learned to get around this. The method I use the most is to stack things to create a gap to read the display. I usually use some combination of a cutting board and bowl.

This scale is accurate, very easy to use, digital display is bright and easy to read. The display is well timed, giving me ample opportunity to add ingredients or place packages to be weighed without timing out. I've used it for weighing baking ingredients and small packages to be mailed (6 oz to 4 lbs.). The package weights have been accurate when checked at the post office. The shiny black glass construction gives it a sleek, high tech look that's so nice I don't bother to put it away between uses. Stores on its side next to my chrome bread box. I'm very satisfied with the quality, appearance, and performance. I highly recommend the scale and will be buying some of these as Christmas and birthday gifts.

When I first got my scale it worked perfectly and was so easy to use. I think I received a faulty one because a few months after it wasn't working very well (numbers were off) so I contacted them and since my product was still covered by the 1 year warranty they replied within hours and already sent me a new one! So easy to contact the seller and the amazing customer service really puts me at ease knowing that if there's any issues they will take care of it without you having to worry about it being a hassle. If you're on the fence about getting it, it's a great scale, great size, lightweight, awesome price and if there happens to be something wrong with it they'll fix it no problem! Would recommend
