I must say. After reading some of the original reviews I was quite nervous. I saw alot of individuals suggesting just how hard it was to get it going. In my case not only was I having issues turning on the device but I also had issues opening it enough my hair. What the instructions do not tell you is you have to manually move the lever at the base of the unit and then pry apart the plates. (Unless I did that incorrectly) The manual also doesn’t tell you that you must hold the power button down for four seconds before the additional light for the heat control is activated. You heard that correct. When you plug in your device there is a blue light that comes on. But that does not warm at the plates. You must hold down the button and a light will come illuminate the temperature control section. Then you can set your temperature. Thank me later

I wanted a hair straightener that has temperature control making it less damaging to hair. The broad heating pads accommodate a large portion of hair, making it efficient and quick to do the straightening. But to curl with these pads is difficult (this could be because I am an amateur user still). It has five adjustable temperature settings that help in setting the desired temperature with ease. To start it, you need to push and hold the power button for few seconds, and then it blinks to choose the desired temperature options. Besides, it comes with equipped safety lock given at the bottom of the tool to keep it closed when not in use.

I have curly hair and this works good! Gets very hot so be careful.
