Magnetic Paint & Primer (Water Based) – Standard Yield 32oz, MISTD-1530

The product is clumpy, I assume because it is attracted to itself. The consistency reminds me of cold chocolate pudding. So you must have patience when applying this, or you'll waste product. I applied 3 thin coats, and then normal paint on top of that. I did not wait between coats because each layer was dry by the time I started over, since I used thin coats. I would have done more coats, but the can is SMALL. Hence, I only painted the center third of my child's wall. It will not hold anything heavy, but it does work with small magnets, kids play magnets, and earth magnets. If I ever get more patience and more money to spare, I'd buy again and make up another use for it.

I was very excited about trying this so I could “hang” frames and decor on my walls instead of putting holes in my walls. But the magnetization is Very weak! I went a little crazy In my application at first, because I wanted to use it all over the house. And despite I mixed it well, it didn’t go very far. It’s very thick. And once I read the directions, it stated needing 3-6 coats. I was able to finish the areas I highly desired with 3 coats, and I had a strong magnet to try on it, but it barely held, let alone a frame or even a piece of paper. So I tried another can, so I could make my 6 coats, and I don’t notice a difference from when I only had 3 coats. I even proceeded to order their magnets to try on their paint, just in hopes, maybe that’s what I was missing. But still no different. In fact, I have yet to paint over it, which I’m dreading, because they called it grey, but it came out to be black once I used it, and I’m sure 1 coat of latex paint is not going to cover it, along with the fact, I can’t help to think painting over it will only weaken what little magnetization there is…$50 down the drain, just on the magnetize it paint, let alone the magnets and extra latex paint in order to paint over it.

Worked wonderfully. I used the Magnetic Paint & Primer outside on the brick wall of my house. I've used this type of paint on the inside for my magnets and thought why not try outside. I was able to get 4 coats. Covers well and also used crafting paint for outdoors to paint over it. There was no clumping, easy to use, smooth application and no odor (I was outside). I've collected lots of magnets over the years and family/friends have given me magnets from all over the US as well as other countries. Now instead of being in a box, they are now proudly displayed.

First off, buy strong magnets. I read somewhere to get Rare Earth Magnets. Do that. Regular magnets aren't strong enough. (All the little grey dots in the pic are magnets) As you can see from my pic, I decided to make a pattern. If you choose to do so, use frog tape and it's okay to let it dry all the way. I did 7 coats. You read that right. SEVEN. I could've stopped at 6 though. I tested the magnets every layer. (I ended up with a little over 1/4 of the can of paint left.) The paint is pretty thick and stinky. Open windows, and many foam brushes. It just absolutely destroyed my foam brushes. I went though at least 2 per layer. (1" brushes) Although at some point I tried to use a sponge. It works but it's messier. I did not do a top layer of paint, but I might at some point in the future to protect it. If it gets wet, even a week later, you can somewhat rub it away. Honestly, it was kinda convenient to clean up my lines, but I've got kids.. One Rare Earth Magnet can hold two pieces of paper. That's it. I'm okay with it because I mostly bought it so my kid could hang up her pictures by herself. Our fridge unfortunately isn't magnetic.

This product was not what I expected. The paint has the consistency of pudding, making it difficult to spread. The wall space painted is 55” x 80”. One 32oz can was barely enough for 1 coat. I ordered grey anticipating the paint would be grey not black. The paint itself is gritty, making surfaces rough. Make sure you cover/tape off any surface you don’t want to sand after like trim and baseboards. I am disappointed with the produce description also. No where in the description does it say how many coats are needed or recommended for desired magnetic effect. Nor does it mention how many top coats can be added before it looses magnetization. As you can see in the picture the magnetic paint is black, not grey, painted over a lighter color. The idea was to create a magnetic wall for my teen’s room with the lighter color as the top coat.

Bought this magnetic paint and primer to paint my son's room and definitely happy with my purchase. Used 3 coats and the magnets stick to it with no issues. It was easy to apply and mix. You have to mix it through out to get rid of clumps. The odor is not very strong similar to any other paint. So far it has been very durable. Ok value for me because I painted half the room. I used 1 gallon. Would definitely purchase again.

This is my 2nd time purchasing this paint. The first time, it was almost a year before I used it & it was so thick & chunky that the can was essentially useless. I figured I had allowed it to sit too long, that's my bad. Ordered the 2nd can 2/8, it was delivered 2/11 went to use it today 2/22 & it's super thick, barely a liquid. Used more than half the can to only get ONE COAT. There's no where near enough paint left to even attempt to get a second coat. Mind you, this after taking it to Home Depot to have the can shaked & also mixing it again with a paint mixer right before applying it to the wall. Will be looking for another brand to complete my project

This magnetic paint worked exactly as I hoped! I used it to create a magnetic border in my home office to display my Disney annual pass magnets, and it turned out great. The paint was easy to apply, and after following the instructions and allowing it to cure properly, the magnets held securely. It’s a fun and creative way to turn unused wall space into a functional display area. If you’re planning to display lightweight magnets, photos, or souvenirs, this is a great option. Just be sure to apply the recommended number of coats for the best magnetic strength. I’m really happy with how my project turned out and would definitely buy it again.

No sirve. Se pusieron 4 capas y no fue posible colocar ni un solo imán. No lo recomiendo.

I’ve done 3/4 of the can and it still won’t hold a magnet. Doesn’t go on smooth, More like a gel than a paint. Definitely would not recommend this product!
