I wanted to install a Garmin Mini dash cam 2 in our new 2021 Ford Bronco. I thought I would have to hard-wire it to the vehicle, or use the super-long USB cord that comes with the dash cam. But then I learned about this little adapter that plugs right into the back of your rearview mirror and powers the dash cam directly from there. So I thought I would give it a try… It works perfectly! There are no dangling wires, nothing to have to stow behind the window trim. Simple as can be. I should add that my Bronco is a Black Diamond with Mid package. I don’t know for sure if every model has the plug in the back of the mirror. But if your Bronco does, this adapter will work. Now, here’s the only caveat: With this device, the camera powers on and off WITH THE VEHICLE. So if you want your camera to stay on full-time (in Parking Mode), you’ll have to get the adapter the Garmin sells that keeps it powered full-time. This is not a problem for me, because I don’t need the camera to be on all the time. I just want it to work when I’m actually driving. With this Dongar adapter, that’s exactly how it works…

Dongar 16 pin Power Adapter for Ford. I purchased for my 2019 F150. Works perfetcly and installation was easy. Just plug into existing mirror wiring harnes and go. Only took about 10 minutes to plug in and secure the wiring.

I always wished auto manufacturers would put a couple USB ports on the back of vehicle mirrors. One with constant power, one switched. Would be great for dashcam installs. This product made that wish come true. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Easy install. Unplug the existing harness, plug this device in, plug the harness into the device. Connect your dashcam with one of the 3 supplied shorty cables, and you're up and running in no time. I have a 2024 F150 powerboost, and this works perfectly. No issues with start/stop or when running on gas/hybrid/electric. When you're ready to purchase this, be sure to count the number of pins on your harness to make sure you get the right one. My truck uses the 16 pin harness. Suggestion for an enhanced product: Incorporate a rechargable replaceable lithium battery that could provide power for an hour or so after the vehicle is turned off. Works/Looks great in my 2018 F150 XLT. Easy install…nice not having to run my wires around the roof. Paired with a Garmin dash cam that has the type-C connection.

Worked perfectly to attach my dashcam to my powered mirror, and remove the power cord from running all around the dash. Wish it were a bit smaller, but I don't really notice it behind the mirror.

Quality: Well built Functionality: True plug-and-play between rear-view mirror and dash cam. Dongar powers the dash cam on when the car starts and powers off when the ignition is turned off. Ease of use: Instructions are easy to follow. It requires that you unplug the factory connector from the rearview mirror and then plug the Dongar into the mirror. The dash cam is then plugged into a second connector on the Dongar. The factory connector can be difficult to remove. Longevity: Have not had the unit long enough to evaluate reliability. Will be interesting to see if the hot Florida summers will be a problem. Many dash cams require 5VDC, and in most cases, you can't power your dash cam with 12VDC. The Dongar has a 12-to-5VDC converter. The Dongar is the easiest way to power your dash cam and prevent wires from hanging down to the console. I find that the fit is tight but does conceal when tucked behind the rearview mirror. Make certain that you order the correct Dongar. My 2020 F-150 has a 16-pin connector, and the dash cam has a micro USB input.

Super easy to install and no more power wire getting in the way. Just a side note I ordered the wrong one originally and they took it back with zero issues. I would recommend them

Plug and play in my 2021 F150 lariat. I saw some complaints about wire being too long or hard to find but that wasn’t my experience at all. Stuck sticky pad to back of mirror on passenger side, away from sensor, and can’t see any wiring from driver seat.

I noticed my Ford Bronco Black Diamond did have the connector in the back of my mirror. Reading the reviews and Q&A, spot on, this fit mine and worked. It came with a bunch of short connectors, USB micro, USB-C and old school USB mini too. No long cables to thread or look at. Nice and Clean and took all of 30 secs to install, adapter fits like OEM.
