Great Reference Grammar
I picked this up for use reviewing German Grammar which I found had become a bit rusty as of late. I find it is very well laid out and makes for a great reference grammar as well. A wonderful edition to any academic library.

Easy to follow
For choosing reference and exercise books to learn German grammar, I absolutely recommend Ed Swick's books such as "German Grammar Drills. But "Intermediate German: A Grammar and Workbook" is also quite good for A2 level and quite okay for B1 level. The strong side is that the examples are clear and easy to follow. Each chapter has 4 to 5 exercises for students to practice. This books may not cover all the B1 level grammar and high-intermediate level students need to find another books to supplement.

A1. NOT Intermediate
For an "intermediate" book, the contents are almost strictly at an A1 level.
