Works- Cool - fast shipping
It's cheaper than the other similar products- works best when connected to a strong signal. But even in low 3g the Cerevo seems to find its way to the internet and put up a show. It will adjust its fps due to connection on the fly. If you want to walk around and go live to a channel like ustream or your own RTMP address it's perfect. I used a mi-fi card from Verizon to add internet to my pocket for the mobile connection. When connected to cat 5 cable DSL the unit is strong good picture. Fact is its a streaming device that can take the laptop out of the setup! It has a really fun dashboard that you can do many things to your stream like overlays and messages. I really like the pause feature where it holds your connection & blacks out the screen but keeps up the "LIVE" icon or message up til you hit start again. You can remote start and stop from the dashboard or the unit- never seen that before - way cool! Fact is for the money buy it to go live or if your pocket is full of cash than go spend $2000.00+ more on the cube...

Seems Good
Just started to use this. Works well with my Sony camera. would be nice to have some way to mount it better to another device rather than it just kind of hanging there. Seems to find Wi-Fi pretty well. I do think it's a bit overpriced for what it does.

Doesn't work
This is an update of my former 5 star review (which is below). After 2 months of working great, this device suddenly became incapable of streaming high quality video on Ustream and now only works in lowest quality mode. I tried replacing it with a new unit and had the exact same problem. Cerevo's tech support is abysmal-- after weeks of having my time wasted with wild goose chases and blame being passed on to my service provider (which had been monitoring our circuit for two weeks and was showing no problems at all), I finally contacted ustream. Apparently the problem is with cerevo's programming codex-- which is no longer fully compatible with ustream's. When I forwarded that email to customer support, they admitted this was true, that they were aware of the problem, and that they couldn't fix the product, but refused to give a refund. Absolutely TERRIBLE. Do not buy this product. Here's my old review. Truly disappointed in this company: The Cerevo Liveshell has made streaming videos through ustream so much better and more reliable. Before buying this product I was streaming through a firewire cable and my computer, and had constant problems with interruptions and disconnections due to fluctuations in the broadband connection. In addition, because very few cameras have firewire connections anymore, I was limited to an old camera in which I constantly had to change tapes instead of a newer camera that could record on cards. Since using the cerevo device, these problems have ended completely. I can now stream reliably with no interruptions, without firewire hookups, and with any camera I want!

Works perfectly ...
I set up the Cerevo LiveShell to work with my Livestream premium (original) account ... and it did exactly what it was supposed to do ... live streamed my video wirelessly. I used a WiFi set up with a so-so signal and a MacBook Pro to run the Dashboard and everything went smoothly once I got the connections set up right. The trick is to ignore everything and go right to shell.cervo dot com and use the dashboard to register and set up the device. There is a drop down menu if you're using anything other than UStream, one of the options was LiveStream and I just followed the steps as laid out there. Once everything was active and connected the video showed up, audio was synced and it just worked. There is one caveat ... the delay from the unit to the livestream is significant. There is no issue as far as I'm concerned, you just have to monitor the livestream to know where you are at with the video, but it will be about a ten second delay from my reckoning. The recordings looked great and I know have a live streaming option that I can use when I don't want to be bound to a computer sitting at desk, or a laptop connected via cable to my cameras. Normally I use a Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher and two cameras connected to a MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display laptop to broadcast, but sometime we want to just run and gun, or take something beyond the reach of all that equipment ... now we can!!! I would recommend this unit unreservedly if you want a totally portable live streaming solution. Go for it ...

First let me say, this is not the HD model and does not broadcast in HD as advertised here. The new HD model is known as the Live Shell Pro. This model will broadcast in 704x528p max resolution. You might have some issues on HDMI out you must set the device out for 576p. Other than that, the unit is excellent. It has everything a web broadcaster needs. Four different stream speeds, mic in, AV in, HDMI in. Everything can be controlled via the front of the device but it's small so you will probably want to use the Browser Dashboard to set it. There is no direct IP connect like you would find on an IP cam to access the Dashboard controls, you access it on an external site. And what if the site ever closes down? Well that will be the device useless. Only good for Ustream and RTMP url, does not work on the new LiveStream or YouTube. The new Livestream is closed off to RTMP url's and only works with their own LiveStream broadcaster unit which Amazon UK do not sell for some reason. The USA site sells it. As for YouTube streaming they now let everyone stream using Google Hangouts, so this unit will not work with YouTube anymore plus you'd need to be a partner anyway with live streaming actived. So in a nutshell, the unit is great for Ustream and your own private or rented RTMP server. Forget about LiveStream and YouTube as it doesn't work.

Great wireless range (through two walls), maybe some mess about controls from liveshell and controls from device (can't set video/still, connection speed through liveshell). Overall it's great device for live streaming without computer, also cheaper solution.
