This clock is perfect for my needs: a bedside alarm clock that doesn’t make noise and doesn’t create light pollution in my bedroom. I’m a light sleeper and this clock suits me perfectly. It’s very simple to use. It only really has two features: 1) set alarm and 2) activate the night light. The alarm is super easy to set and the de-activate button is really large and easy to find when you’re half asleep. The screen light is activated by simply touching the top surface of the clock. Again, super easy is a dark room. The negative LED screen is super easy to read and does not generate any light in the default state. The clock does everything you need and nothing you don’t. Simple, elegant design.

I purchased this alarm to replace an old Timex travel alarm that I have had since 1983 (yes, unbelievable that something would last that long in this day of inbuilt obsolescence). I purchased Braun because of the reputable name. The clock seems well-built and operation is very straightforward, in general. It has basic functions and nothing that is unnecessary in a travel alarm. There are a few small (and hard to understand) gripes - hence two stars deducted. First is the awkward way to turn off the alarm. To do so, you have to reach behind the back and pull the slider down - which isn't straightforward in the dark, when you are sleepy. Second is that, when you do this, the alarm is now turned off for the next day. If you forget this, you could end up oversleeping the following morning. Third gripe is probably the largest - the alarm does not stop unless turned off! If, for example you wake up before the alarm and leave your hotel room, the alarm will continue until whatever time you return. Not a recipe for happy neighbours! For comparison, my 42-year-old Timex alarm can be stopped by pressing the front screen (and this does not turn off the "Alarm On" function for the next day). Also, the alarm continues for about one minute, then stops. That's all you need - if you haven't turned it off within one minute, you clearly are either deceased or not in the room. Much more sensible.

I am trying to reduce my mobile phone use (doomscrolling) so wanted something next to the bed to tell the time at night and this is just right. My phone is now banished to another room and this serves as my clock/alarm and when I wake up in the night there is no temptation to get the phone out. BEWARE the black version has a black screen with clear numbers and in the day these are not all that visible without the light, but thats fine with me as there are plenty of other clocks to look at. At night you just lightly touch the button to see the time. It is simple to set and is a design classic that has been around for many decades as it is something I remember from the 80s or 90s with that clean and simple design.

Easy, at a glance display; it shows the time in a large digital display and also alarm set time. Simple to set up, lightweight and compact with modern design. Braun have always made expensive travel alarms, but you pay for quality and brand name. The only fault in design is that the cover on the battery compartment keeps falling off.

the alarm sound is not loud enough - disappointing

I got this because my last bedside alarm clock would flash all night long and it was a harsh bright red light which was distracting when trying to sleep... Thought this would be good because it's a dim display, but I'm sort of disappointed that there's no display whatsoever in the dark.. I understand it's more efficient as it's battery powered but I'll have to upgrade soon because it's inconvenient not being able to see the time without throwing your hand around in the dark to find the "light" touch button on the clock which only illuminates for 10 seconds ... Nice small piece of kit though.

Very nice alarm clock. Sleek design. We like how the display is non intrusive, if you simply brush the top of the clock it will then illuminate itself. Hopefully it will last as long as our previous Braun alarm clock. - For size comparison, with a 1990s Braun flip-cover.

I used to rely on a cell phone to wake me up each morning for work. Only problem was, every one and awhile, like once every few months it would fail to go off, despite being on, the volume being up, and everything being set! So I finally had enough, and bought myself a real alarm clock. No regrets! This thing is small, easy to use, stylish, and very intuitive. I like the switch/level on the back, its super intuitive to shut the alarm off once you're awake and to turn it on again later. The screen does have readability issues in certain light conditions, but personally I haven't had a problem, considering I use this as an alarm, not a clock. Its super simple and does its job nicely, and reliably! One minor nitpick, the picture shows that the alarm bell icon is green, its not. In real life its the same white color as the other graphics on the screen.
