Benjamin Marauder Synthetic Stock PCP-Powered Multi-Shot Bolt-Action Pellet Hunting Air Rifle

I'm 62 and have been target shooting high powered rifles for 40 years. I have owned several break barrel air guns including the NP2 Trail. And after reading so many reviews it was hard to make a decision on trying this gun. I called several companies including Crosman to discuss the barrel issues and was assured they had been fixed for several years now. Still I read many blogs about tuning and mods to fix accuracy problems. Most all of the blogs complaining of accuracy problems are 3 or more years old. Still I come from the world of high power firearms and target shooting and it was my goal to purchase an accurate rifle to plink and hunt with. Had to be at least equal to my NP2 Trail in power. I like my NP2 Trail, but it's hard on scopes and is a little touchy about holding when fired. Mine hates a front rest, even if the back is supported. The NP2 is very powerful, but as stated, a little finicky about shooting hold. The Marauder is not picky about hold, just like a high powered rifle except you don't have to worry about recoil, there is non. And the specs on the Marauder indicated all I wanted in an air rifle. I choose 22 because its easy to find pellets and all my other guns are of that caliber. True the 25 has almost double the power, but since hunting is not my primary use the 22 once again was the better choice for me. And 22's have been used for hunting for more than 100 years and are known in almost every country in the world.. And I would imagine that this gun in 22 would drop anything you could with a 25 caliber if you can place your shot right. Being a target shooter first, and hunter second, accuracy was a big issue for me. The marauder I received was extremely accurate for what it is. (You must note that shooting pellets of any kind is like shooting a flat nose bullet in high power because they are not very efficient in flight due to their shape) Right out of the box it placed less than 1/2 inch groups at 20 yrds all day long. This is the distance I sighted it in for to test accuracy. A fully encased barrel for sound reduction is added plus and one of the reasons I bought this gun. It is very quiet, with the target making as much noise when hit as the shot did from the gun... Some things you should know: 1st a floated barrel is a little delicate. They are not designed to be bumped or moved and I suspect that some peoples accuracy problems were from the barrel moving on them. BTW, floating a barrel is one of the first things you do to accurize a high powered rifle. So take care not to bump it into things, and if you do, make sure it is centered in the barrel ring and not touching. 2nd pumping this thing up with a hand pump is a real workout for someone my age but it is fun and like most people say, about 60 pumps will take you from 2000 psi back up to 3000 psi which is a full recharge as long as you don't go much below 2000 psi. And if you don't touch the factory adjustments for power and such, you can get 40 usable shots or more depending on what you call usable. For me and a friend, we moved out to 50 yards or so and used soda pop cans for targets, and with a good scope, it was boringly accurate. If you missed, it was because of you, not the rifle. I ran 50 shots on a single fill and it was still shooting that distance but the last 3 or 4 shots started to loose accuracy, still that's not bad for 50 yard shooting. That 50 shots took the gun from 3000 psi to 1900 psi based on the built in gauge on the rifle. A squirrel wouldn't have much of a chance at 50 yards with this gun. So if you''re looking for a fun gun, with an excellent trigger and accuracy I don't think you can beat the marauder. Handling and weight are also very good, not too heavy and the stock just fits your grip. A lot of thought has gone into this gun and its design. And honestly, I cannot think of anything I would change except to maybe support the floated barrel a little for carrying. Time will tell if that is an issue. But I am happy as a clam, all smiles.... even if it is a workout to recharge. Coming from high power target, this is a keeper for me. And I don't think you will be disappointed with it either as long as you respect the design and handle it appropriately.

Had this a few years now so it’s thoroughly tested. Super accurate, hard hitting and practically silent. Ideal for backyard pest control. The bolt action and rotary mag system work flawlessly. The main issue with PCP is the extra expense for keeping it pressured hand pump or compressor add to cost. This is a great rifle for way under a grand accuracy and power is phenomenal.

I’m super impressed by the Benjamin Marauder. The quality is outstanding in every way, including the owner’s manual and packaging. I setup mine with sights, a set of bipod legs, and a sling. I zeroed the scope indoors at 16 meters, using a 2’x2’x0.75” board, and filling the rifle to 2,000psi (with my Benjamin hand pump). I then repeated the zeroing in my backyard at 40 meters. The accuracy is remarkable. The build quality is self evident. Highly recommend!

Very pleased with the rifle. Solidly constructed and shoots very consistently. I've put a reasonable scope on it and can place shots within 1/4" at 25 yards, which is good enough for my usage. I purchased a foot pump and it takes 95 pumps to go from 2000 psi to 3000 psi. Not a back breaker but it does raise a sweat. The quiet others have mentioned is real. Neighbors wouldn't know you're firing it save for the thunk into the target. Loading the 10 round magazine is quick and easy. Loading a single pellet is annoying and fiddly - definitely use the magazine. It IS on the heavy side - holding it on target off hand isn't a trivial task. All in all a solidly built rifle and it's well worth the price.

This thing is light,accurate and quiet. It is capable of consistently making dime sized 10 shot groups at 50 yards, and that is with a cheap hatsan optima scope and rings. Ergonomics are great along with the adjustable cheek rest makes it easy to shoot. It scratches the itch of shooting centerfire guns and does not cost as much in terms of ammo. I get 50-60 consistent shots from 3000psi to 1800psi on factory tune with this .22 cal Marauder. I haven't bothered messing with the power adjustments or the two stage trigger as they work just fine for my purposes of punching holes on paper. Another thing I should note is that my particular Marauder holds air for over a week without any lost of air to speak of unlike the other reviewers have stated, maybe crosman has worked out those kinks with these newer production. The only negative I can speak of would be the gritty bolt, a nit pick maybe as I am used to the glass like action of my centerfire rifles. But as it is, it works just fine and maybe will smoothen out in time.

Ok just bought this pcp rifle and oh boy let me tell ya. I have shot pcp before a lot but never owned one. Anyways I never have shot this one though and I thought for the price I would give it a try and I'm glad I did. Here's why for around 500 bucks your get a VERY accurate rifle I shot at 30 to 40 yards pretty much same hole. Of course I took it down to nitty and hand picked perfect pellets weighted them and such to get the most perfect shot every time. So if your thinking about this rifle I would say go for it. Now remember you can't just shoot any pellet and expect to be same hole accuracy. You gotta find the perfect pellet and brand than your gun likes as for. Here's the pros Pros: Super accurate as described Adjustable trigger and smooth pull Synthetic stock means durability meaning don't have to worry about up keep for the wood stock Good shot count Cons: Fps is not as described but there is adjustability so I guess it's a wash. If you get the hand pump it gets old real fast but not to bad if your in shape Other than that there's nothing bad about this rifle I've read some reviews saying people got some bad ones and o rings popping out but I know they have updated there guns and fixed a lot of the problems I've already went through 300 pellets and still shoots perfect. The magazine failed after only 2 loads. After that it would not feed any more. I am extremely disappointed, as I don't really have a lot of free time on my hands so expect a $600 airgun to work first time, every time. I have not even finished sighting in the gun. Doing research online has revealed that they have a lot of issues with the magazines. I wish I knew that beforehand. The guns should be sold with at least 1 backup magazine. Otherwise it appears to shoot very well.

I've been using break barrel spring/gas piston air rifles for pest control but the last one I bought lacked usable accuracy and was returned. I decided to take the plunge into PCP and got a .22 caliber Marauder. Was worried when it arrived with zero pressure until I read the accompanying notice which indicated the rifle was de-gassed and shipped that way due to shipping restrictions. I also read where the factory had pressure checked the Marauder for 72 hours and fired it several times to check barrel accuracy, the test target showing the shot grouping was included. After pressurizing and setting the rifle up I moved to my outdoor target range to sight my Tasco 3-9x40mm scope in at 25 yards using a soft bench rest. Once sighted in, the Marauder consistently fired shot after shot through the same hole only slightly enlarging it. I changed from using nickle sized targets to pea sized and still never missed a single shot. Quiet, deadly accurate and consistent, what more could you ask for? Definitely the most backyard friendly (quiet) air gun I've owned. I bought a hand pump for pressurizing the rifle and am still glad I did. From 0psi to 3000psi required several hundred pumps, but I just did about forty at a time before taking a break so it wasn't strenuous. I get forty shots with the .22 caliber Marauder before the pressure gauge drops near 2000psi. Refilling from 2000psi back up to 3000psi takes about eighty or so pumps. At six feet tall and 180lbs pumping is pretty easy for me, I just use my weight for the down-stroke. For someone much lighter than me, hand pumping might be more difficult. If i enjoyed target shooting or "plinking" and was shooting all the time, I'd get an electric pump but I'm not a hobbyist, I'm just interested in pest control. I might need to top the rifle off once or twice a month on average. I left the rifle unused and fully charged for several days with zero pressure loss. So far, after running a hundred or so pellets through it, I have nothing negative to say about this .22 caliber Marauder. Best air rifle I've ever owned and I've owned quite a few in the fifty years I've been shooting.
