No More Cracked Eggs
Our girls have just started laying. We had a couple cracked eggs, despite trying to pad their boxes with straw etc. They would throw out the straw leaving the exposed wood and therefore laying eggs that would crack when it hit the wood. So had remembered a post with someone mentioning pads for their nesting boxes and quickly searched on Amazon and found these. We decided to go with the orange color since it is as close to the color red (which chickens like). When we received them I really had some doubts because they seemed a little to spikey and hard. Didn't think my lil momma's would appreciate the comfort I was trying to provide. But alas they loved them! They are a smidge to big for their boxes but it works just fine without having to cut them. My girls started using them right away and now No More Cracked Eggssss! We all know how precious eggs are now $$$$ ๐ The pads also seem like they will wash off well! Good price and a product that does what it says. Hard to find that combo in today's world! Definitely a Great Buy!

Well made!
At first the pawpaw's chickens did NOT like these and I was about to send them back! It took a little but once they were used to the tougher material compared to the hay they once had... they use these with no issues. They are extremely sturdy, very easy to clean and easy to get into the boxes. Now pawpaw has no need to spend money on his nesting boxes! Take these out once in a while, wash them out and reuse! Wonderful idea! Great on the pockets!

Good nesting mats
My chickens seem to be okay with them, we did put down some shavings to make them a little more comfortable, they are a bit rough. They didnโt fit in the nesting boxes so we did have to cut them. Our chickens just started to lay eggs and when they did, the eggs were not broken and they were clean. So far so good with these nesting mats! Just put the mats in so not sure how good they will clean up when needed but from the videos I saw, it should be pretty easy to get the poop off. This is definitely the cheaper way to go because they can be reused instead of constantly having to buy and replace the bedding.

Better than disposable pads
Bought these after seeing an ad on social media and getting sick up buying the disposable pads. My chickens would destroy the other ones in a week or two scratching around in the box or breaking an egg. My chickens did not like the change at first and refused to lay eggs in the boxes. I actually had to put pieces of scrap lumber around the coop corners and other areas they started laying eggs. Took about a week for them to finally use the new pads and since have been working great. They are easy to cut if needed and super easy to clean if an eggs gets broken or one decides to use the box as a restroom.

I like them, my hens don't
These are well made and easy to remove and clean with a hose. But my hens will not lay eggs on them and find other random places to create nests themselves. So I am switching back to our old disposable nesting pads until I can find something that will meet their approval.

Cleaner eggs!
Just as the company claimed, these mats were easy to use. I put them into my nesting boxes in lieu of the wood shavings Iโve previously used and both eggs and hens have been cleaner as a result. Every few days, after gathering eggs, I simply shake the mats out, dislodging all the debris. They seem to be strong enough to be able to last quite a while and one thing I especially like about them is their design allows air flow underneath the hen, keeping her fresher and less prone to vent diseases or bugs. I am also able to save in the long run by not having to constantly replace the wood chips I had been using. One other thing: some of my hens always liked to sleep in the nesting boxes, crowding together and making quite a mess of the box. I do like to note they arenโt so comfortable on these mats, apparently, as sleeping spots. While completely satisfied to lay eggs on them, they have gone back to the roosts to sleep, which is fine with me.

Clean eggs and clean nest boxes
I found these by accident on Amazon and thought, โWhat the heck?โ Then I read the reviews. I was tired of constantly putting new straw in the nest boxes only to have the hens kick it out. Then they were sleeping in the boxes at night. Not sure why because they have roosting bars. In the morning the boxes would be full of chicken poop and any eggs laid in them were covered in poop. So out went all the straw and in went these wonderful nesting pads. I just slipped them in the nesting boxes in seconds and they fit perfectly. No more poop in the boxes and no more chickens sleeping in the boxes. I now pick up clean eggs off the nesting pads. Genius idea.

Good mats but not easy to clean
Bought them to help protect eggs from breaking by using them as a cushion/to help keep the hay from getting shuffled around. Problem is if eggs get broken on them (which they do) then it kinda binds to it with the hay/poop/etc and makes it quite difficult to clean off even with a hose. The protruding "spikes/bristles" arent that hard so your chickens wont feel uncomfortable walking on them if you dont plan to put hay or something ontop of them. Pros -they hold up well, have had them for 1 season now and no real sign of wear and tear -they help keep eggs from getting broken, but dont 100% prevent it cons -a bit expensive -hard to clean despite their claims of being easy. I would say if you took a pressure washer to them they would be easy to clean but even with a garden hose on jet mode they didnt clean up very easily, took a bit of elbow grease. I would buy them again, or a similar product anyways. I think a newer design with the britles/spikes/whatever you wanna call them spaced out a bit more so its easier to clean would be better.

The hens used them right away and they help keep the eggs very clean. Bought enough to swap them out when they get dirty, although most of the time the mats just need to be shaken and they're clean enough.

I wasn't sure about buying these at first. But the last few months worth of eggs are filthy. We have 9 girls so get anywhere from 3-9 eggs a day. They have 2 plastic coops and 5 nest boxes built in, but the little buggers will only use 1 nest box. They scramble over the eggs to lay their own but then cover the eggs with mud and poo. Not great. Since putting this stuff down instead of the sawdust we previously used, they now just lay an egg and leave. No more sitting tight annoying each other about whose allowed in the best box at what time. They're not cheap, but are easy to clean, I just lift them up and bang them on the side of the enclose which releases the dust and poo. All our eggs now are as clean as shop bought ones but without the price and with better flavour.

Great idea, had seen in the USA but never in UK. We started using the pads this week and already have more eggs saved from breakages and being covered in mess. The design also makes them very easy to clean, we just give them a bash and the dirt falls out. We were using hay bedding which was a pain to maintain and replace, so these will also save us having to buy more.

I saw that these are used a lot in America and I wanted to cut down on waste, so decided to swop bedding in my nest boxes in the coop to these mats. When they first arrived I thought that they looked hard and prickly but theyโre actually not that bad. The hens have adapted to them and now thereโs no poo in my nest boxes which is amazing! The eggs stay clean. The mats are really easy to clean. They just lift out, I give them a shake and then hose them down. Would definitely recommend.
