Okuma Cold Water- seriously good reel!
Have 4 of these now, oldest one has been in constant use for the last 5 years. All 203DLX models. Perfect for big chinook, coho, and steelhead, on the big river or ocean. Have twice had an oversized sturgeon take my salmon gear, first one was 10 feet long (estimated 400 lbs), and while I was nearly spooled initially, the reel held up. Next one was an 8 foot long sturgeon, a little easier to deal with but still took over half an hour to get it to the boat and released. The click adjust star drag is great. The line counter is good, the only problem can be if you reset to zero and the button sticks, so be sure to push down to reset to zero, then pull it up to make sure it engages. The winder works well. These reels are becoming super popular on the Columbia River and Buoy 10 fisheries, for good reason. My Abu Garcia 6501’s are all just backups now, my Okuma Magda reel was not impressive, but the Cold Water knocks it out of the park.

I wished I'd bought more. BY THE WAY
I had two Okuma Magda Pros and purchased two more, I needed six total and wanted to get something better and I looked at the Daiwas, not much better than my Magdas. Next I looked at the Shimano Tekotas but those were $200+ at the store. I decided on these sight unseen because they were just over $100, saved $100 from the Tekotas. they came in and these are really high quality, when you hold them you can feel it, when reeling they stop at lock exactly where the crank is, the Magdas crank roles back to somewhere near 1/8 of a turn. Im sad that I didn't get four of these instead of the two I got. Yes, they are double the price then the .Aguas but the Magdas just feel toyish/adequate, these feel great and solid, like you actually bought quality. I like the line counter on these better than the Tekotas. So as for price and quality these are a no brainer for me. I'll fish those Magdas for a season and sell them and get more of these for next season. Update, you will be happy with these when you get them, they will not last. I have 12 of them on my boat and you better learn how to take them apart and repair the transmission gear for the linecounter and pawl. You will need to find these gears in bulk and keep them on hand. I replace 3 or 4 gears on reels every year. If you are going to troll with any weight such as a dispey diver or other down rigger, they will quickly fail on you. I f you want to use them for stick baits or other tackle that doesnt put much pressure on the reel they will work ok. Me two years later, wonders why I upgraded from Magdas. I wouldnt suggest these to anyone, that how much they will disappoint you! $120 sound like im getting a decent reel, it will be a waste of your money.

I need another one like this
Nice reel. I have been using a friend's and decided to buy my own. Works well for trolling with a down-rigger. Line counter is more accurate than other reels. Consistent drag. I need another one like this, because the one I ordered, did not arrive. It was entrusted to the USPS in Seattle, Washington. No one knows where it is now. Amazon has a book for sale: "The End of the World Is Just the Beginning: Mapping the Collapse of Globalization." The book says that 2019 was the end of "faster, better, and cheaper." I think that was the last year I could depend on getting reliable two business day delivery. Buy the fishing reel if you are trolling for fish. Buy the book too. I will wait a bit longer for delivery, but customer-centric Amazon, has already offered a refund. Thanks guys.

Nice Counter
Great counter for the price. We use these trolling walleye on the Great Lakes. I like the functionality/button placement compared to the other brand we use.

New favorite at the price point!
Loved, bought another, and now just ordered a low profile one. This is a tank that is SMOOTH, the abu Garcia C4 used to be my favorite in the price range for salmon until now. This is a complete winch in comparison and is smooth on the retrieve and the drag. The power is unmatched compared to the C4’s

The best reel for the job!
I use only Okuma Coldwater reels now on my boat; all 24 of my reels catch thousands of pounds of salmon each seasons. I use the CW203D on my Downrigger rods, the CW303D on my Dipsy Rods, the CW453D on my copper rods up to 250FT and CW553LS for coppers below 250Ft to 400FT. Excellent product!!! No reel has ever failed!!! The drag is perfect « click by click », the clicker is loud and much appreciate by my clients!!!!

Best quality reel for the money!
For the money I have not seen a better-quality reel! I have high end reels like the Shimano Stella, Daiwa Saltiga and I know what the best looks + feels like and this is just unreal for the price. Feels really solid and family members of mine have used it for trolling in lake Eucumbene for years never had a single issue! I have also started using it and you don't have to break the bank to get quality I definitely recommend this reel.
