Berserk, Vol. 4

This is the 4th volume in the Berserk series and starts the storyline involving Griffith and the Band of the Hawk. I enjoyed it and continue to find this series very well done. I am always very impressed with how much progress the story makes in each volume. In this volume we get to see how Guts was raised from a boy to be the badass fighter he was in the earlier books. We also meet Griffith and the Band of the Hawk. For those who have watched the original anime this is where the Golden Age story arc starts; so this will be familiar to Berserk anime fans. The illustration continues to be amazing. The story makes a lot of progress in this book and a lot of great new characters are introduced. The action scenes are plentiful and well done. Overall this was an excellent continuation of the series and I enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend to mature graphic novel readers who enjoy fantasy manga packed with action and violence but balanced with a good story and engaging characters.

Guts and Griffith’s friendship is genuine, it makes their inevitable falling out all the more tragic. This series’ art and character design has been on point since the start.

Since they didn't ask about this book the way they did about 5 & 6, I'm going to type in the answers as part of my review. First of all, let me say I love the series, the writing and illustrations are excellent. Gattsu "Guts" has a rough life, and he has ties to other beings like demons, so there IS violence in the story. This book in particular has some sexual content that would not be appropriate for young children. The story is narrated in the same interesting style, alternating between characters and points of view.

Finally getting to the special sauce. The Griffith/Guts blossoming bromance. A touch of Cascade resentment. It's a rare alchemy and can't wait to have it unfold.

Amazing manga! Can't stop reading! Action scenes are also top notch! I can see why many other media drew inspiration from this.

This is a good product, excellent quality.

When volume 3 left on such a cliff hanger I rushed to buy this to find out what happened next. and if you were in the same boat as me believe me you will find out. I feel like this volume is very important and it shows how Guts became the way he is the events that happen the trials he this overcomes, it all builds and shapes the way Guts as a character is. For example in this volume you find out why Guts doesn’t like to be touched and you understand why in the future he gets so violently angry when people touch him, you see why Guts has such a hatred for weak people and the world and why he is so untrusting of people and prefers to keep to himself. basically if you have read the three previous volumes you’ve figured out that Berserk is amazing and maybe you’re wondering should I continue to be sucked in to this amazing story? the answer is yes! The answer is always yes! In my opinion out of volumes 1,2,3 and 4. 4 is the best volume yet for me the art is astounding in this one and the writing and character building is phenomenal and just from reading the 4th volume it has convinced me to buy the next 5 as I am now fully a slave to the story of Berserk, so what are you waiting for? bloody buy it, join me!

Super good quality and the art is perfect.

Please fix the zoom in issues for the kindle file. When zooming in some of the panels are not showing properly and some dialouges are not coming on the screen of the mobile/tablet. Please fix the panel zooms for all the volumes and this will be perfect.
