Does this work with Sony A7R ?

It should work with Sony's new Alpha cameras with an ISO hot shoe. Note there are electronic contacts beneath the camera hot shoe that these adaptor engages/interfaces with.

I have a sigma ef-500dg super ma-adi that worked perfectly on a minolta a1 with this adapter allow me to use it on a sony a6500?

I used it for Sony A7 and it has the same hotshoe as the A6500, so I'm assuming it will work on your camera also.
