Using a roller, I applied a single coating of Hemway Clear Satin Lacquer to the wooden floor of my room. Without a doubt, it's a vast improvement over the floor, pre-coating. Before I applied the lacquer coating, the floor had a rather poor finish (the appearance and the feel of the floor when walking barefoot seemed pretty dismal) and I was concerned about the wood decaying or getting spoiled by the growth of molds as a result of moisture. After the coating, the floor has a nice glossy finish and feels quite pleasant when walking barefoot on it. I also don't have to worry about decay and mold growth due to the protective layer. What's more, it's pretty economical-it took me approximately little over a half of the lacquer available in a single can to cover the entire floor which has an area between 35-40 square meters.

Both these products have the word Lacquer on the label. By definition these products are not lacquer. They are a water based synthetic polymer or vernis as the French people like to call it. When I confronted the people at Hemway their reply to me was " Our lacquers are neither nitro cellulose , acrylic lacquers or polyurethane synthetic polymer based coating. Our lacquer products are single pack air drying water based products". So - there you have it - they admit that their products are sold as a Lacquer but are not a lacquer by definition.
