We have a well system and it has a lot of iron and sediment naturally. We have an iron curtain, water softened, etc to try to remove impurities. I realized that our water lines were also getting clogged with sediment while working other issues with plumbing and clogs. I decided to install the sediment filter and I have to say I I was skeptical but it definitely works great. My issue is that the filter needs to be cleaned out a lot. At some point I needed to remove and clean it daily with the 50 micron filter. Pain in the ass but necessary. I tried the 200 micron filter instead and I think that will still protect my systems enough without cleaning it so often. The water when draining the filter bowl absolutely reeks too. 🤮 You’ve been warned.

This is a quality product and I suspected it was a soon as I picked up the box. I guess I’m kind of old-school when it comes to plumbing products, if it feels heavy enough to be exhibit A in a murder trial, it’s probably OK. The primary housing is a quality piece of cast brass expertly machined to appropriate standards. It comes with fittings, allowing you to convert it from 1 inch to three-quarter inch and as an extra bonus it comes with two shark bite, three-quarter inch adapters. These easy to use push connectors cost $10 apiece if you go to buy them separately. The ball cock on the bottom serves as an easy clean function, and also will release the pressure on the system in case you want to take it apart to give the filter a more detailed cleaning. The filter is a permanent one made of stainless steel or some closely related alloy. Things you should know; first it’s a clear housing in a high impact quality plastic. This allows you to visually inspect the filter to see if it needs a flushing. However, if it’s in direct sunlight, it can turn into kind of a terrarium, and you’ll get algae growth. You can solve that by draping an old towel over it. The other thing you should know is it’s not really a filter it’s a pre-filter. It is a 50 µm built-in system. It will handle dirt, fine sediment, bits of sand even rust, but it’s not going to take out absolutely everything. Depending on your situation and the quality of water, it might be fine by itself or you might want to follow it with a different system down stream with a 1 or 5 µm filter to really do the job. This prefilter will greatly extend the life of your filtration system. Make those expensive replacement filters last longer.

I am using this in my "Goldie Locks" 3 piece system. My water flows counter clockwise. Bottom left is this device (big particles). Then (bottom middle) is a 40 micron "medium " filter...and then bottom right...10 micron "small". This device has really saved on how often I have to change my "medium" and "small" particle filters. I clean the screen about once a month. Because this device is clear colored, I can see the "film" of particles build up on the screen of this device. And the "bonus" is I can depressurize the system with the small valve on this device... instead of the "buttons" on top of the other 2 filters that spray a must on you. Aka, I have stopped giving myself a mini bath when replacing the filters. Not seen, but from another review...the small white hose that comes out this device goes into an upside down water jug....the kind you'd have at a office water dispenser (usually blue...I think 5 gallons). I added a generic image to illustrate. You can get a ~~little bit of screen cleaning (the inner screen of this device) just by flushing the system with the mini valve of this device. I'll flush it until the 5 gallons jug is almost full (or what i can carry :) ). (the "handle" on the 5 gallons office jug is appreciated here) At some point you gotta unscrew this device and do a thorough screen cleaning. But the "5 gallons flush" helps some in between. PS Don't forget to fill up a bucket or something BEFORE you turn off your water...to rinse this device's screen !

Comes with all necessary fitting. I bought this to filter well water before it goes into my pressure washer. Haven’t used it yet , but looking at the quality oh everything I’m confident it will be perfect. This filter I’m my opinion would not be large enough for whole house use . The design is great. Heavy materials for endurance.

Super fast delivery and accurate descriptions

Great at filtering sediment but doesn’t flush the sediment out. The included photos are after flushing 10 gallons thru it. I’ve always had to remove and clean by hand to get the majority of the sediment out. I have 55lbs of water pressure in the house.

fit well, easy to us over all was easily installed

I installed this on my water line after my pressure tank from my surface well to catch sediments. After a year of use, It still in good quality and work's well. You can see if sand is trap's in the bottom so you just open the drain valve and the spring push the separator down and clear the deposit. I fitted a hose in the bottom so the water flow directly to my drain. My plumber who worked on my house said it was well made and good quality
