18-Volt OCTANE™ Cordless Brushless Compact Fixed Base Router with 1/4 in. Bit, Round and Square Bases, and Collet Wrench

I got this to serve as a hand-controllable router for wood carving; basically to remove material on relief carvings before more detail work. A full size router is just too much to use on a work desk and this device worked great despite the silly clunky battery on top. The battery life is pretty impressive especially on lower rpm, and the dust collection got near 100% which is a must for working at a desk. It's probably pretty limited on bit size for real woodworking tasks but for my purposes its perfect. I've ran it for a few hours total and found it very easy to control freehand at low to mid RPM range and runtime was probably 30-40 minutes per battery. It can probably do 1/2" passes with a 1/2" straight flute bit before it starts getting overburdened at high RPM but your runtime will be effected to remove that much material.

Have finally been able to use this and am very happy with my purchase. Works just as well as a brand new and more expensive one. I love that it is very compact and battery operated so it takes up much less space than an electric one and I do not need an outlet to use it.

Pretty disappointed i didn't receive the actual Octane router as listed... Change your listing to reflect what you actually send.

It's a comfortable fit in the hand and it gets the job done.

I've been using this router now for over a year and thought I'd give it a review. I make a lot of raised dog bowl feeders and this works great for adding some detail to the project. The only reason I did not give it a five is, I took off the bottom plastic guide to change a bit (lost my wrench). When I went to put it back on, the four holes would not line up. I had to press against it with my thumb to push it over more so the last hole would line up. Lesson learned, don't take the plastic guide piece off.

This is a great router. Easy to operate. Lite weight and compact. So easy to do whatever job you need a compact router to do.

I have several Ridgid 18 volt bower tools. I bought this to use for quick round overs and soft routing. After two years the shaft is moving up and down which makes the item unusable. I know it happens so I'll get it fixed or replace under warranty. Called customer service. Another offshore person who does not speak English as a first language. Since I bought from amazon no LSA warranty but I do have a 3 year warranty. I still have the receipt so I have to take it or mail it to a repair center. Then they customer service rep gives me a number to call. I'm in NC and the number is in SC. Its a vacuum cleaner shop but they are a repair center for battery powered Ridgid tools. So I am not driving there which means I have to mail it in at my cost and pay them to send it back. I think I'm done with Ridgid and the quality of the tools are definitely going down and the warranty is worthless unless you live in Columbia SC. BTW I do have an account with Ridgid tools. So I checked and the customer service person put my router in as a vacuum.
