Targhee III Slip-On

I love these shoes! I’m a woman who finds men’s hiking boots/shoes fit me better than women’s. I have to use corrective custom orthotics and I need a shoe that holds its shape. I can’t wear sneakers or slippers so I basically only wear hiking boots/shoes. I need a wide toe box and Keens in general have roomy toe boxes. I’ve had Keen ankle high boots for years and I love them but they’re not exactly good house shoes. I wanted a pair of hiking shoes that I can wear only around the house and that I can slip on and off. I tried several other brands before finding these and they’re by far the best and most comfortable for me. The toe box is roomy, my orthotics fit inside perfectly, they’re relatively light weight (compared to my Keen hiking boots but I wouldn’t say they’re the lightest hiking shoes I’ve ever worn. They aren’t the heaviest either.) and they slip on and off easily without being so loose that they slip off on their own. They’re true to size too. I’m a men’s size 9. I bought a size 9 and initially they were snug but they’re leather so you want them to be a bit snug because they’re going to stretch some. I’ve been wearing them for several hours daily; they’re perfect now and very comfortable. It didn’t take long to break them in and I’m sure they’d be too loose if I had bought a larger size. I have worn them without socks briefly (just when I need to answer the door quickly and I’m not wearing socks) but they chafed my skin around the top of the shoes (just under my ankles) so I wear socks with them most of the time. My foot fits fine with tube socks, ankle socks and thin wool socks but very thick socks would probably make my shoes too tight and I wouldn’t want to stretch the leather. The leather is now supple and the shoes are very durable and comfortable. I’m very happy with my purchase and would absolutely buy them again.

Great, comfortable, durable, slip-on shoes. I got them for travel, because you used to have to take your shoes off all the time, but then enjoyed them so much I wear them all the time.

Super comfortable. Keen makes the best shoes. I just with they made more like this a little less clunky.

I just received these today and thought I would share a few points. I so this with all new footwear that I get. I always wear them around inside the house for several days or a week before venturing outdoors in anything I get. First, it minimizes dirt and scuffs so that if I need to return them, they aren’t so trashed that they can’t re-sell them to someone else who might appreciate them. Second, it gives me an option to get them off if they turn out to be uncomfortable and I can wear something else, rather than being miles from home and stuck in something uncomfortable. And third, if f they turn out great, they will start to conform to my feet and take on a a form fitting shape that will be an easy transition as an outdoor shoe. I have done this without any issues for decades in all my footwear. Upon seeing other reviews, I see that some people say that the stitching doesn’t hold up well with rough use. Now that I have these, there is a lot of overlay panels of leather on these, and usually what I do is I will generously coat shoes like this with Obenaufs. It’s a leather treatment and I find that it preserves the leather and lubricates it as well as the stitching. This will minimize threads from fraying and possibly tearing out or busting seams. I know most people won’t bother and most people probably feel that a good pair of shoes shouldn’t need this process if they are made well. That’s a fair point. But, I like insurance and I want my purchases to last as long as possible. Adding this product to the shoes also conditions them and armors them against the elements a bit, which only adds to the value and longevity of the shoes. Fit: These are really tight out of the box. The top of the “tongue” keeps curling in as I put them on and I have to use my finger to flip it back. It hurts a bit. I am assuming it’s because they are new and I hope they become more pliable. The Obenaufs will surely help with that. The overall fit is very snug at this point. I am a true 9.5 and ordered a 9.5. I will update this review if it becomes necessary as these wear in.

These shoe are awesome! Light, strong, practically indestructible.

I ordered my normal size 10, and they fit my toebox-wide feet perfectly. They are great in the rain and sun. My feet cramp with shoes that don’t fit quite right. Not with Keens. postscript: I just returned from a month-long trip. My Keens stayed dry and comfortable throughout. A couple of stitches came undone on the upper right side. Keen paid me the price of new moccasins, though I said I could get them repaired for $25. So, now I will also have Keen Brixen moccasins for colder weather. I did manage to sprain my thumb when I first put them on. I hope Keen suggests using a shoehorn, at least at first.

I purchased these a few months ago to use for walking the dog in a field and woods...which are wet/damp from morning dew. I therefore wanted a decent pair of water proof shoes...these fit the bill as they were Keens, supposedly a top brand, they were billed as hiking and water proof shoes... They were also slip on...checked all my boxes. They worked well for about 2 months of every day walking about 1.5 miles. Comfortable, easy to put on...after a bit of break-in due to the tight collars....but I actually liked that design as I thought it would help keep water out. Unfortunately after a few months of light use, they began leaking making my socks damp and now they leak to the point that my socks get soaked... it is not like I stood in water, or went out in rain, etc...so very disappointed in Keen and the overall functionality of these shoes...especially given I did not cheap out and buy a lesser quality brand, etc... Look for something higher rated and make sure they have an extended warranty so you can return them... The return period for these expired about a month after I received them so I am out the money paid and cannot use them in any type of wet conditions....

Be careful of size when ordering. I normally wear an 11Wide, and thought I had selected 11W, but the order somehow got changed to 10.5M. I was able to cram my feet into them, and kept them beyond the return window, but they really are too small. I have other Keens that fit well at 11.5. To add insult to injury, Amazon now defaults 10.5 because of my purchase history! I can find no way correct them! I really should have returned the undersized shoes, even if it was my mistake of not double checking the order. Aside from the size, I like the quality, appearance, and traction.

It has been harder getting the original KEEN fit for women. They have changed most of the shoes to the narrow toe/slender shoes that do not resemble or fit like KEEN used to. So I decided to check out the men's selection and found these which look to be the same as the womens' HOODOO slip on. Firstly with size. I ordered a mens US 7.5 which fits exactly like a womans US 9. I find they are supportive and fit securely on my feet. They are very comfortable, but did notice on one foot (I have one foot that is slightly bigger than the other)the leather was a little stiff in the area where your foot slips in. I am sure this will soften after wearing for a while. The shoe comes up higher on the foot which I like as the shoe fits nicely in the heel. I am very happy with my purchase and the shoes arrived quickly.

I have worked in kitchens for years and these are the best nonslip, no laces, slip-ons I have ever worn. I have a bad arch in my left foot, and I feel no back pain at all. I usually buy insoles but I don't need to with these shoes.

Der Schuh ist sehr bequem, man geht wie auf Moos. Allerdings sind die Angaben teilweise falsch. Der Schuh verfügt nicht über eine Schnürung, ist kein Hausschuh und hat keine "Kitten Heel". Diese Angaben führen zu unnötiger Verwirrung und Kundenzurückhaltung, was dieser perfekte Schuh nicht verdient hat.
