The Captain Jack Sparrow Handbook Hardcover – May 3, 2011

The Ja k @parriw Handbook provides interesting facts about our favorite pirate with a bounty of pictures.

Bought this for my son who is an avid Capt. Jack Sparrow fan and he loved it. Cute illustrations and entertaining text. A nice "happy" gift for any PofC fan.

This is a fun read, again I have been purchasing these pirate books for my grandson,who loves the pirates movies as much as i do. I read them and then he does..we compare notes:)love the pirate language

Lots of fun to read. For the child still inside all of us. Great pictures and good info on the making of a great movie

It's not that this is a bad book, just not quite what I was hoping for.It is neither over-the-top like the character it is named for, nor is it historically accurate.I'm not going to complain specifically about historical accuracy here -- the book is, after all, based on a fictional character. The problem here is, though, that in many instances, it is quite counter to actual history, and not in ways that are necessary for the specific setting. Of course it is going to reference fictional beings and characters to remain within the framework set up by the movie franchise, but it also refers to such historical inaccuracies as pirates burying treasure or forcing people to walk the plank -- things that are by no means really required to fit into the franchise. Why not stay accurate when possible, if you're not going for over-the-top swashbuckling Hollywood pirates?Which brings us to the other weak point of the book. It's not all that over-the-top, nor all that swashbuckling. With such an over-the-top character as Jack Sparrow as inspiration, why not make the book itself just as outrageous?So, not a bad book by any means, but it just could have been so much more. Yes, there are plenty of historically-accurate books about pirates out there, as well as plenty that are outrageous and swashbuckling -- this one just hit somewhere in the middle, rather than going full-out, one way or t'other.

I have a grand son who is addicted to these books and movies. Good to see them reading in addition to watching the movies.

It is a must have for any Jack Sparrow fan! I was hoping to find a hint into the next pirate movie, alas not much in that way.
