Very successful and pleasantly surprised
I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO REMOVE BOX DYE Guys I NEVER write reviews but I wanted to come on here and leave one because it’s always super helpful for me. I am a natural brunette and last week I got my hair bleached and went fully blonde. I instantly hated it and resorted to box dye the next day. The box dye was uneven so I boxed dyed it AGAIN the day after and my whole head turned black. The dye I got was supposed to be a light brown and turned all of my har black. My hair was also super dry and looked dead. I ordered this in search of a color remover that would not turn my hair orange (since I had bleach underneath it). I also read that this stuff is gentle on your hair. When I tell you it worked so well! I did a strip test of my hair first and then did my full head because I liked the color so much. It surprisingly did not turn my hair orange! My hair after using this is currently a light brown and maybe a slight red undertone but not noticeable at all. This is also super gentle on my hair and my hair feels so much healthier after removing the box dye. I only kept it in 15 minutes because I was scared that my hair would turn orange (which it didn’t). The only downside to this is that it does smell putrid. I assume there some type of sulphur product in this because it smells like someone threw up a rotten egg. The smell also kinda lingered in my hair even after shampooing 3 times.

Will buy again
This stuff works amazing. I've used it on fun colors and red hair dye full deposit to get it out of my hair was so much easier with this product than others. I've used in the past. It does smell like most removers do but it's not too too bad. i've bought this before I will buy again.

Hoo
“I used Color Reverse to remove black hair dye and it actually worked really well. My hair became much lighter and the dark color was gone. The only downside is that you cannot apply new hair dye for about 15 days, otherwise the black color can come back. Overall, it’s a good product if you are patient and follow the instructions carefully.

Works but has its limits
prior to salerm i used the color oops which totally backfired, turning my roots orange [my dyed hair is a dark dark brown with auburn and violet tones and i've been dying my hair dark for over 10 years - dying/highlighting for over 20 years], despite following the directions to the letter. But this stuff, fixed the orange and stripped the dark [almost black but not quite] from the bottom up and fixed the orange somehow. I will have to use a second time after a week or so as stripping your hair is a process, especially of dark colors or red/violets, and it takes many rinses - each time i rinse more comes out slowly but surely. You must be patient especially if you've been coloring for a decade or more and nothing will restore you to your original color if youre using permanent dye and semi-permanent dye - you need to grow your hair out to get to your original color. My goal was to lighten so I could go to a lighter shade, which I refuse to bleach my hair as its not worth the damage, NOT restore it to my orignal shade as that is impossible due to the way the oxidation process of dye on hair follicles. This is what I did besides following the directions; 1. Mix eq. parts as directed & apply quickly (it's a gel so its much easier and you get a lot out of it but if you have very thick long hair it would be safer to go with two boxes) - it does stink but nowhere near as badly as color oops which lingered in my hair which was gross - if you rinse and shampoo as I did there's no lingering scent 2. Apply a cap (doesn't come with) but also it helps to throw a towel in the dryer to heat up and then wrap over the cap. heat activates it and makes it work better. 3. Leave in for 20 minutes (some people say they've left it on longer but I have healthy hair and i try to protect it so i didn't want to chance it - I may leave it in longer next time, however). 4. Rinse hair first in shower thoroughly and apply shampoo (no conditioner - not yet) than rinse for 20minutes the first time. IMPORTANT - use a crappy shampoo - the stuff that costs $5 with parabans (etc. the crappy stuff) - Apply shampoo (the crappy stuff again) again & rinse for 5 minutes. - Shampoo one more time (yes, still the crappy one), rinse for 5 minutes apply conditioner (I used a nexus keratin conditioner mixed with a deep conditioner treatment) and rinse for 5 minutes (last time!). It's boring and a process but it pays off! Your hair will thank you if you use a nice conditioning treatment (I used a garnier papaya treatment mixed with my nexus keratin conditioner). I'd also say keep using the crappy shampoo as it helps strip that color! DONT BOTHER WITH COLOR OOPS - it's cheap and terrible! This stuff doesn't hurt your scalp either and the smell doesn't linger the way i re-shampoo-ed and rinsed repeatedly (which helps the stripping process as well). RINSE RINSE RINSE!

Did the job, and some…
Well, it did remove the black Demi dye from my hair but it certainly didn’t restore my hair back to its natural color. My hair is naturally a medium reddish brown and it turned it veryyyy copper. Super light at the base but darker at the ends (mostly out of the light) after two rounds. It definitely was stinky, like sulfur. And my hair still smelled of it after 5 washes with shampoo and a deep conditioning mask. In fact it still smells like it now, 5 days later, after multiple more washes. On the plus side, my hair looks very shiny and doesn’t feel overly processed. I it’s kind of a nice shade for summer too. I mixed equal parts in a bowl. Put on some rubber gloves and worked through sections of my hair, totally saturating it all. I think I would have preferred to start at the bottom up to midway and let that develop a little and finish up the the roots the last 15 mins. I piled my hair atop my head and wrapped foil around it all. I left it for 35 mins to be sure, but the original 25 mins would probably have sufficed. The last 3-5 mins I blow dried the outside of the foil for extra measure. Then I rinsed in the shower, used a clarifying shampoo 5 times because I could still smell that stinky eggy smell in my hair. I was over it at that point and applied a deep conditioning mask for 5 mins. Rinsed with very hot water, then a cold blast. I was anxious to see what the heck I just did, so I applied my usual products and styled. It’s kinda growing on me…

Works great
This stuff smells like horse poo, but it works great! My hair came out too dark and had a weird tone with a 6NNG dye. I have short hair so only needed 3 tbsp each from the bottles. I applied it like dye then covered my hair in a cap and used a diffuser blow dryer for 20 minutes. Rinsed well and washed with a clarifying shampoo. It recommends rinsing with diluted 10 volume developer, but I only had 20 so skipped that step. My hair came out golden and lighter than my natural shade. I dyed it again after it dried, and it’s perfect with a 6 AA. And my hair feels amazing! Soft and smooth. 10/10.

Wow! Game changer!
Im not one to write many reviews but this product really works. I unfortunately attempted to dye my hair a light ash brown with with a starter shade of bleach blonde and the results were disastrous to say the least. I tried to fix with by adding other shades on top which only made the problem worse. I decided to give this a try and at the first use it completely removed the latest layer of semi permanent dye. I went ahead and did two more rounds and ended up with my starter shade in a slightly warmer tone. This stuff really works and i avoided having to bleach again. My hair feels pretty healthy with zero noticeable damage.

May or may not work, but worth a try
OVERVIEW: This product didn’t work for me. BUT I can’t give it 1 star because my neighbor used it and it worked great for her. So I think if you use it under the right conditions, it can be an excellent product. BACKGROUND: My kids had very pink hair from a box dye and needed it gone before school started. They are naturally bleach-blonde so the pink dye was very apparent. They dyed our neighbor’s kid’s hair with the same product who also has naturally bleach-blonde hair. Her parents used this product within a few days of the dye and it removed almost everything - only a light streak of pink was still visible. That’s when I tried it on my girls - but at that point, the pink had been in for several weeks. When I tried it, it didn’t do much. It maybe lightened some streaks, but the overall bright pink appearance was still there. I tried multiple applications. CON: This item comes with poor instruction. I couldn’t understand the instructions, the print was tiny so I could barely read it, and they seemed to reference another product that wasn’t included in this kit. I had to search the web, which unfortunately had different opinions on how this should be used. I ultimately followed the written instructions while skipping over mention of the other product I didn’t have. I confirmed my neighbor applied it the same way since her application actually worked. CON: The smell is awful. My kids complained about it. But I understand why it has to smell that way due to the needed ingredients. PRO: Very easy to use and apply once you understand how. The kit comes with all needed materials/tools. PRO: The amount is plentiful. I had enough to apply multiple applications on two kids and still had plenty left over. And one of my kids has very thick, long hair that took an extra amount of product. OVERALL: In my opinion, the price for this product is right if you’re desperate and want to give it a try. I would definitely try it if the dye you’re trying to remove is only a day or two old. If it’s older, this may work for you but don’t get your hopes up. But given the overall value for the money if it DOES work, I think it’s worth a try.

Works like a charm!
Very gentle on hair but removes all or most of the artificial hair colour pigments.

I can't believe how well it worked!!!!
I've never left an Amazon review before. I just HAVE to share my experience with this color reverse system. I have long, naturally light brown hair. Over the last 6 months I used demi permanent dye 3 times. I got the dye from Sally Beauty. The first two times I used dark blonde, and the last time I used light brown. My hair at this point was almost black. It literally drained the color from my face and eyes. I didn't want to bleach out what's left of my hair as I've lost about 50% of it from weight loss. So I decided to try this stuff. I am beyond thrilled with he outcome. I have my natural hair color back! Yes, it smelled kind of yukky but nothing that a fan in the bathroom couldn't handle. I only used half of each bottle, being careful to measure 1:1. I covered it with a shower cap and waited 20 minutes. Then I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed with warm water in my kitchen sink. The total rinsing took 30 minutes. I went for so long because rinsing is how the dye molecules get released from the hair. I had minimal hair loss from this process and no breakage. My hair is definitely a little more porous after, but that's just from the developer used with the original dye. I intend to put a VERY light toner on my hair in the next few days just to smooth the cuticle out again. I would DEFINITELY recommend this stuff for any girlies who want to get back to their natural color! I can't speak to how it handles really colorful dyes, permanent dyes, or hair that's b en dyed for a very long time. But since it's so gentle and affordable, it's worth a try!
