Do you have to have RO system

do you mean you do not want to connect the RO system with this kitchen faucet? if you need not connect to RO system, you do not use that hose .

What happens if I leave the main water handle on all the time, so I can just turn on the water option I want without turning the main water lever on?

I leave it on all the time. I can then easily use the regular faucet or the sprayer. Keep in mind the main lever is what controls the temperature. I always leave mine on hot and then can easily nudge the lever for cooler water. The RO lever works your RO separate.

How does the faucet hose for the ro filter accept the hose from the ro system? is it push-in, hose clamp, screw in adapter, etc? thanks.
