The Singer model HD6700 Electronic sewing machine is capable of sewing garment weight leather (a soft supple leather of 2-3 oz [0.8 – 1.2 mm] is normal for garments) with the proper machine settings and leather needle type 2032. This machine has a strong motor. I do some commercial sewing and I have two of these. Just be sure to use the correct strength of needle for your project

The Singer model HD6700 Electronic Heavy Duty sewing machine is a Home sewing machine. The Singer model HD6700 Electronic Heavy Duty sewing machine is capable of sewing garment weight leather (a soft supple leather of 2-3 oz [0.8 – 1.2 mm] is normal for garments) with the proper machine settings and leather needle type 2032. We do not recommend trying to sew any leather heavier than 3 ounces. Please be aware that if you sew on multiple layers or materials that are too thick and it raises the presser foot too high (higher than the normal up position), the top tension will be disengaged and the machine will not make a proper stitch (may jam machine).
