Why does it need a battery if the remote can be charged?

I am not sure where it says needs battery, because i simply charge the remote and do not need any other batteries.

will this work with an iphone 13 pro?

I dont have a I phe 13 I have a 14 and when it was working it worked fine. I am currently having a iss with the remote which is the only way you can operate the unit. Right now despit overnigh charging and a green light indicating a full charge. The unit dies in 15 minutes.

Can this taken on an airplane carrying on bag?

Absolutely. It might look strange when getting scanned and so warrant a bag search, but other than looking like a baton it is fully legal to fly with and will fit in carry on or a backpack.
