Rain Bird Electronic WiFi Irrigation Controller Surge Protection Digital Display

So I saw this online and thought it would be the answer to my prayers. I could start and stop watering remotely, startup would be a breeze, life would be good. But although it is a Wi-Fi controller, it is not Wi-Fi as it is sold or out of the box. It works as a regular timed, stationary controller out of the box but in order to have Wi-Fi enabled you need to purchase a Rain Bird LNK WiFi Module for Wireless Control of ESP-TM2 & ESP-Me Controllers separately (no where in the advertising on Amazon or on Rain Bird's site does it say this). The issue is I have with this is the Wireless controller is $172.98 on Amazon.I think this is VERY MISLEADING advertising. If this was advertised as a Wi-Fi Capable controller or if it stated somewhere that the Wi-Fi module was sold separately I feel that would be a fair representation of what you are getting but the way it is advertised (I am not blaming Amazon, it is advertised the same way on the Rain Bird website) you don't get what they say you do.

I bought this new modern timer to replace my old Rainbird timer to get the added WIFI features and they are great! I connected on my first try and the phone app is very good. BUT I didn't carefully compare the actual programming features before buying and I found that this model actually gave up a feature - I cannot create a Program A and Program B like i could with my old timer. This feature was great for allowing my flower bubbler zone to water everyday at noon while my other zones watered only 3 days a week at 5am. I can't water the flowers on both schedules, the 3x week at 5am while watering everyday at noon, the workaround is to water the flowers everyday at 5am as well as noon. May not be a problem for everyone but wanted to highlight for anyone who truly needs Program B.

Good purchase. I replaced old rainbird controller last week with this one, it was easy to replace. We now can conveniently water our plants and flowers in the gardens when we are sitting indoors running it off our iPhone or iPad. Communication with controller once in a while goes out but a minute later connection gets restored. Overall we are quite pleased with our purchase.

this unit works very well and once installed tends to be trouble free. It has several features that can be set up and then it becomes very user friendly. Has the capability to add rain sensor should you desire it. One thing I would like to see is a wind sensor so that if the wind is blowing at a certain level the system would not cycle as programmed. I like this unit so much this is the second one we have.

Wiring connection is super easy. Connection to your wifi is easy and also communication is quite reliable. Connection with phone data (without wifi) did not work until update ~ Aug 1 and now works fine. Other bugs in Android app were also fixed. Some minor bugs still exist and there are more features I would like but it's quite good now. I have not tried Apple app. Either way, the software in the actual controller works fine and the most important thing is that it waters your grass when it should. Tech Support was also very good with app questions etc.
