For the Simplicity
To start with the straightforward stuff, it is a fantastic product for those looking for something simple to keep their rooms clean when they cannot do this. I would not recommend it for super heavy cleaning of tons and tons of fur if you have a husky or another large shedder. I do not have any pets, so this was fine with me. I use it in my basement because it gets pretty dusty down there fairly quickly. It keeps it very clean, especially from all the debris knocked off of shoes. The app was, at first, minimal and did not provide much control over the robot. But they just recently released an update that shows a more clean interface, and it allows you to pause the robot if there’s an issue. Before there was no pause button, so it would be difficult to resume it when the robot would get stuck in a situation. It definitely takes more than a few runs to learn your room and to stop running into things. I have watched it slowly grasp where everything is, and it has finally stopped running into problems as much. It used to get stuck under my computer chair, but now it recognizes it and completely ignores it. It does an excellent job of cleaning dust, debris, and even little critters. There are 3 different modes to choose from when it comes to suction strength: • Eco mode is suitable for light cleaning around the rooms if you want to save the battery and such. • Normal mode works fine if you are doing a regular clean. I mainly use this mode because it cleans the best while reaching all rooms without running out of battery. • Max mode will cause it to lose battery much quicker, but it will clean at the maximum suction. This mode is excellent for these types of situations. However, I would not recommend using this mode if the area you are cleaning is large in size.

Handles a dog and cat combo just fine!
I'm not much for writing reviews, but this one deserves it. I've never had an autonomous vacuum cleaner so my review is solely based on a first time user's experience. The vacuum integrated perfectly with my Google Home, although it does not seem to like cleaning rooms with custom names by voice. For example, if I say "Hey Google, clean the cat room" it doesn't seem to understand. But when I rename the room to one of its 'canned names' then it does just fine. "Hey Google, clean the laundry room" was what I had to use. It mapped the house perfectly on its first run. I have a 2,000sqf 1 story house with multiple rooms. It took the better part of a whole day for the vacuum to map the whole house, but now I can send it to any specific room and it will drive right to it and clean it. After about 4 cleanings, we no longer have cat/dog hair buried in the carpet in our main bedroom. Now you would never know we have any animals at all by looking at our floors because this sucker cleans everything (we run it every other day through the whole house). As for the auto-emptying feature... It works flawlessly. The only issue is that it will not last anywhere close to 30 days unless you already keep your floors clean another way and don't have animals. With 2 people and 2 animals, we have to empty the vacuum base every 2-3 days but this is still way easier then having to keep up with emptying the vacuum itself. It takes all of about 30 seconds to empty the base and it never impedes with the vacuums ability to do its job. Overall, this vacuum has saved us so much time by eliminating our need to vacuum/sweep every day! Definitely a 5 star rating from us with a glowing recommendation. We bought it on cyber Monday so it was a great deal, but it would still be worth the full sticker price in my opinion.

SEE UPDATED RATING Updated to 4 stars!
ANOTHER UPDATE: WORTH READING!! Feb 5, 2023 Call customer service. Seems there was a software update the destroyed the units software. They apologized multiple times, and they are sending me a brand new, updated model, FREE! Even tho i am annoyed by some issues, i can overlook that for a company that honors issues with their product. THANK YOU SHARK! Another update: Around Oct 2023 it just stopped working. Cleaned out EVERY SINGLE spot on vac i could. Unistalled and reinstalled app. Even tried a new battery. Followed EVERY recommended process. Didnt help. Now jan of 2024, STILL wont work. Lot of money for something that only worked about 18 months :( Update 8-29-22. So, there has been an update to the app. And now it seems the vacuum is behaving itself, and doing fairly well. Before, it would miss half the room and not come back. Now it comes back. When it needed to dock, it would take forever to "find it's way" back. Now, when the chime plays, it goes STRAIGHT back! No fumbling around try to find home. It actually went STRAIGHT back to where it left off! First time for that! Don't know if that's what did it, but happy for the app update! We will see how it goes from here :) Update. 8-22-22 Definitely would NOT purchase this brand again. Unless it's $10, cause that's about it's worth. Doesn't pick up well. Is even worse when it's full (it doesn't always go empty itself when full). Even tho house is mapped, it just rambles around the house, couple laps in each room, til the battery runs down. Then I have to let it charge and go out again. LOVE that it's self emptying, but it's hit and miss when it comes to getting everything. Misses half my living room most of the time. I think the "mapping" thing is a bunch of BS. Which leads to my next negative.... have tried 5x to get it to clean a certain room, with only 1x of success. Am I happy with it? eh. Would I buy it again? No. Oh, and another drawback, when it does miss a spot, I can't redirect it to said spot. My last robot I could do that. With the remote, I could direct it left, right, backward, and forward. This one you can't do that. BUT, that all said, it DOES empty itself. :)

Not perfect but better than me having to vacuum
First time with a robot vac. Did research and read all reviews, pros and cons and decided this was best for price. Ran for first time today and here are initial observations. Will update as I use it more. 1) this is not a plug and play item. I did have to spend time going around the house taping down extension cords, moving small items that can get knocked over, and marking where certain items of furniture are because apparently if an item moves from location it was at when robot mapped area it will get confused ( there were several reviews that mentioned that as an issue so I just went ahead and marked items that tend to be moved like a coffee table, and chairs (I used little pieces of a tape called “ gaffer tape” which is excellent because it holds well but doesn’t leave ANY residue when removed. Available on Amazon. 2) the model number used on amazon for this item is NOT the same as the model number on the robot, important because when calling tech support if you give this model # they don’t know what you’re talking about. 3) Had no problems setting up and connecting to wifi. 4) ran it on ECO mode because some of the reviews said it was better while it’s still mapping the house -will map it faster because battery lasts longer. I HAVE PETS therefore endless hair and debris and was impressed with suction at the ECO level which is the least strong suction setting. I Won’t try the other two modes until robot finished mapping. 5) there were a couple of areas where it got stuck but after a min or two it found its way out on its own, probably best not to help it unless it’s stuck for more time 6) it lasted 2 hrs and had to return to dock to empty itself twice (2nd time there was an issue described below. at times it seemed it wasn’t going to find its way back to dock but it did. 7) when it went through living room it missed area between sofa and coffee table, however, after doing the kitchen it went back to living room and found the missed area. 8) TWO BIG CONS: the previous model RV1000AE (apparently the one I bought is pretty new as of DEC 2020) has a SELF CLEANING BRUSH which is supposed to prevent long human hair wrap around the brush as was a feature I really wanted because this household has long haired humans , this model DOES NOT come with that. It has what they call a multi surface brush which is basically a regular bristle brush where my long hair got tangled and i had to tear, cut it off brush. Big bummer. ACCORDING to tech support one cannot buy the self cleaning brush to attach to this model. You would think Shark would make the bots so you could switch brushes if you wanted. Also, in the first 2 hr run an error message to empty the dust bin in the robot ( not the base) came up. While the bot and bristle brush did a great job of scraping the pet hair off the carpet, it bunched up in the dust bin and the base was not able to suck it up the 2nd time, I had to manually empty robot dust bin. Big bummer. 9) You need BOUNDARY STRIPS to keep bot out of areas you don’t want it. This model DOES NOT COME WITH THEM, whereas the previous model does. Chintzy move by Shark. OVERALL I am happy with it. I hope the problem with the dust bin clogging to the point of not self emptying will resolve itself after continuous use. I have both carpet and hardwood floors ( on which I have area rugs) and it has no problem transitioning from one to the other. Even though it’s not perfect I can now have a daily vacuuming of my house without me having to do it (I have a very bad back and knees and there is no way I could vacuum every day). As the bot is not finished mapping I haven’t tried any of the APP features-scheduling or picking a specific room to clean— I’m hoping the APP will work well because that was one of the major complaints I read in all the reviews.....the reviews I read were for the previous model because at time of purchase there was only one review for this model. As of now worth the money, it was on sale for $499 when I bought it. 12/25 update. On original review I had given it only 3 stars, now I give it 5. One of the CONS mentioned previously seems to have resolved, running it every day means less pet hair and debris so the dust bin on bot has not clogged again. still have to check brush for tangled human hair and rip/cut it off but I have to do that with normal vacs so I can live with it. Bot finished mapping house after 4.6 hrs of running ( a lot faster than what reviews had complained about). IMPORTANT, it is best to have the “CHARGE N RESUME feature on while mapping if big house, mine is 1900 sq ft, so it completes map faster. This feature does not mean the bot will re start vacuuming after it charges, it just means it will resume in area where it stopped. Final floor plan was pretty darn accurate (lot of negative reviews about the mapping being inaccurate), also found it relatively easy to create rooms. Have an iPhone 11, don’t know if type of phone was the issue for those who complained about difficulty with the feature. I do wish there was an option to create CUSTOM room labels. When creating rooms I found it’s best to zoom the floor plan when creating room lines, otherwise the named room may not correspond exactly to the actual room. This feature is a must because bot only completes 80% of house on ONE charge, then have to wait 3 hrs, so if u don’t want to wait that long to get a specific room done ....... The actual run time on ECO mode is approx 1hr40mins not 2 as previously stated, and the charge time is approx 3 hrs. The dust bin gets emptied at least once during that time. Many times bot seems to be lost- it will do 1/2 living room then go to bedroom then go back to missed area in living.. not a big deal as it gets it done. BOUNDARY STRIPS- don’t know yet if the NO GO ZONE feature in APP can replace the use of strips- for big areas maybe, but I have strips around pet water bowl and I don’t think I can make that a no go zone so I don’t have to have the strips. Will experiment with that feature as I’m not thrilled about having boundary strips in certain areas. My silly dog was initially scared of the strips and wouldn’t walk over them to get to her bed. Dog doesn’t love the bot she’s a scaredy-cat so she goes outside when in use... it only took the cat 2 runs of bot before she realized it’s harmless... hope to see her riding it some day :-) .... I am still impressed about the amount of stuff this thing is sucking up on ECO mode, and it is not overly noisy.I can only assume the other 2 modes are suction beasts but probably a lot noisier and drain battery faster. Though not perfect, if one is willing to spend the time for set up and understanding it’s quirks, it is definitely worth the $$$ ...I’m very happy.

Great Helper Vacuum
I am rating this vacuum based off of what i'd expect from a robot vacuum. First- this is a robot vacuum and can't replace a good, regular, stand up, more powerful vacuum cleaner. I would recommend to use this as a helper in between a good deep clean when you vacuum weekly. As far as picking up hair - it doesn't do as great of a job as my Dyson Ball Animal Hair Vacuum, but for a robot vacuum it is pretty dang awesome. It does a wonderful job at getting up the hair that my Golden sheds in between my deeper vauuming sessions. I do have to clean out the dust pan and bristles every now and then to help prevent the hair from getting stuck. However, you have to do this with regular vacuums anyway. Suction Power - i wouldn't say it is as great as a regular vacuum cleaner, but it does a great job for it being the size that it is. It picks up pretty great. overall im very happy with the current cleanliness. Other good points - easy to set up - easy to use app - makes map of the house it cleans so you can ask it to clean specific parts of the house - has a self empty feature. I can just pick up the canister and go empty it directly into the trash can. Cons - can be a bit annoying to let it run if you're home, it could get under your feet - loud when emptying the contents / running. BUT quieter than a normal vacuum - Not super suitable for smaller homes. our townhouse is a bit small but it works pretty decent.

Software is not great
Update: just under one year from purchase and now unable to use the “room” feature, it just randomly heads out and runs around for 10 or 15 minutes and goes back to the dock. If I try to just send it out to do the whole house it also seems to have no idea where it is and randomly runs a bit and goes home. Continually gives me error messages that it’s stuck when it’s on the dock. I shut it down and restart and that sometimes helps, sometimes not. Will have to delete the map and re-map again (4th time) if I want to continue using it, but honestly I’m probably tossing it in the trash. The software is that bad. On a recent update they removed the “history” feature which would show you what areas on the map it had cleaned. That should tell you something about how bad the mapping functionality is. The vacuum itself is okay, sure it’s not very powerful, what can you expect. It’s a small, battery operated vacuum. Keep up on the maintenance, filter cleaning, sensor cleaning, keeping the brush roll clean and it does okay. But the software is pretty bad. It maps okay, but then often seems to have no idea where it is. The ‘no go zone’ feature is a great idea but doesn’t work at all. Often I have to initiate a cleaning session multiple times because it generates an “i’m stuck” error as it’s sitting on the dock. If I tell it to clean a room, it will often head out for a completely different room, wander around it, then take 10 minutes trying to return to the dock because it had no idea where it was. The navigation and control software is really a one star for me, the vacuum itself maybe 4 stars if you don’t expect the world. If you have a pet, you are going to be running a normal vacuum around, just not as often. If I do ever buy another robot vacuum, it’s not going to be a shark. Their vacuums are good, I like them, but the control software is mediocre at best.

Worth it
More it is used the smarter it gets. We bought it because at the time we had 1 Mama cat & 5 3 month old kittens so we needed something better than our upright vac when it came to vacuuming up fine cat hairs and cat litter. Im happy to say it does vacuum up both as well as fluffs up carpet that’s in our master bedroom that was put down over 20 (+) years ago when my parents owned the house. The suction power is amazing. Has two levels of suction power as well. You use the app on your phone to start it up to map your house, to choose which room you want it to vacuum as well as set up time frames to when you want it to vacuum aka scheduling. Can use the app on your phone to send it back to dock. When the battery low it will dock, empty into the docking station, and recharge fully and then get back at it. As I said when it docks at the charging station whatever it has sucked up it will empty out into the docking station bin. The app will tell you when you need to empty the bin at the dock to which I just keep an eye on it and the app will tell you when it is has gotten between something and cannot get itself out or if the battery on the vacuum canister is low and needs to be put on the dock to charge up. For example we did not get back home till around 7 pm last night while we were in Mobile (we live in Lucedale) when I got a message across my phone (at 5:00 pm) telling me that the battery is low and the canister is stuck and needs to be put on the docking station. When we walked in the house it was hung between the wall and our exercise bike (because it had literally vacuumed itself over the left back leg) and could not get itself off. [And yes I got several alerts 😂]. So needless to say when we walked in the house and I found it, it was dead; but as soon as I put it on the dock what it vacuumed up got emptied out. Even took it to our daughter’s home to let her see how well it does because she had purchased 4 or 5 and sent them back for one main reason — she has a black rug that lies under her bed and each robot vacuum she purchased could not go over the rug. Took ours plugged it in and of course mapped her house as it cleaned. Got to the black rug in her master bedroom not only did it vacuumed it but had no issues with getting on it from the floor. Yep she was impressed by it and yep she will be getting her one. With saying that my parents closed in their carport which was a junk collect all room, to which we made it into my hubby’s “Man Cave” with that said there is a one inch lip that this vacuum has no issue with going over and down the right side of the ramp that my dad put instead of leaving a step up from the use to be carport. Indoor multi-plug-in cords — it will push them so you will need to pick up. We have several cat beds a cat tunnel and yes a bean bag. It will push them around till it can either go under it or go around it. I just pick them up. Rugs that are very light pick up because it will eat them up. I hope I have answer your questions. If not ask and I will answer hopefully.

Works well with quirks
Update : within first 5 months it just wouldn’t work correctly. Every time it tried to operate it got an error “move me to level surface “. Had to either unplug and reset or attempt multiple times to get it to clean. Had to get manufacturer to replace. Recommend getting the newer model with lidar as the software seems less quirky. Set up was a breeze. Mapping is a bit of a pain. Have had to redo it a few times. After the first mapping was done (maybe 4 uses?), if I delete and redo it, it is done in one run typically. The thing has a mind of its own sometimes, requiring me to remap- it just randomly skips rooms even though I didn’t use the rooms option. The frustrating thing is both that we have (identical model) randomly started saying return to level surface and won’t start cleaning…when it’s on its base level. Usually the only way to resolve this I’ve found is by unplugging the base from the power receptacle. I’m not tech savvy so maybe it’s me not knowing how else to get it to run. Filters are great and hold up well to washing one to two times a month. We’ve got laminate in 90% of our home, and some shag area rugs, it does great going over the different surfaces! Corners are not so great, but it’s a round vacuum so that’s expected While it takes about an hour for each one to clean each floor, it saves me at least 20 minutes a floor of vacuuming. It’s great to be able to send it to clean if there’s a mess in kitchen etc once you have the mapping set up. I did pick up on a lightning deal. I’m not sure for regular cost 300-400 it’s worth it because of it’s quirks. Those quirks are the exact reason I rated it 4 stars not 5 after almost 4 months of use.

Super impressed
I am SO impressed with this little robo vacuum! I did a lot of research before purchasing as we have a dog who sheds a lot, and this truly does live up to the reviews. We have carpeted floor and it's able to pull a lot of the hair out of the carpet. If you run it once a day or every other day with a shedding dog, you will be in good shape. It mapped our entire floor perfectly in the first run. I was blown away. The technology has come so far! The app is clean and intuitive. It also makes setting up the Shark very easy. After it is finished mapping, you can add labels to each room, and schedule it to run at certain times, and in the rooms that you choose. If it gets full while it's doing the cleaning session, it will find its way back to the docking station, empty the dust and dirt, and then go back to wherever it left off. The only downside is that it can only map one floor in your house. If you're in a two story house, you can still use it on other floors by moving it to the floor you want to clean, and pressing the "clean" button on top of the vacuum, but you won't be able to do this from the app. It is fairly quiet, and has a low profile. It's able to sneak under beds and tight to reach places very well. Battery life seems great and no concerns there. The docking station is small enough that it isn't an eyesore. It comes with a nice little mat that the robot drives onto. When the robot docks itself, empties into the docking reservoir after a few seconds. This part is fairly loud, but only lasts a few seconds. For the money, you truly can't beat this powerful little robot!

False advert
Sold to the uk, but with a us plug and suitable for 120v 60hz. So totally useless. And now they’re refusing to return it. Advert says 240vac and the questions say it’s a uk plug. But it’s just a plain lie. Not clear whether I’ll get my £750 back. Totally disgusting

Fantastic robotic vacuum
I have a health condition that prevents me from vacuuming as often as I should to keep up with three shedding dogs. Years ago, I purchased a robotic vacuum but it couldn’t keep up with the fur balls and dust bunnies that were taking over the house. Plus, emptying the dust bin and untangling the roller were tedious and time consuming. Well, my life has been changed by my Shark IQ robot vacuum with its self emptying bin. It really has impacted our household favourably and lifts my spirits when ever I see him doing his job. I have named it “Pierre” and he quietly moves through the house doing a wonderful job. My sister-in-law purchased a unit after seeing Pierre in action. This is a fantastic robot vacuum...Pierre, I love you.

It does the job I need it too
Delivery quick. This thing takes time to learn. Give it several days to get your layout. It does some silly things like go from one room to another for no apparent reason. Maybe to check or something or if it missed a spot. My floors are clean and seems to do OK on the bedroom carpet. Cat hair :( Pretty easy to clean. Although, Filters and such will need to be cleaned and you will need a screwdriver long enough for some areas to remove screws to remove filters. Overall the system is not bad and could use some app work and maybe a better sensor system so it does not try and run up onto certain furniture. It does what I need it too and that's what matters. Time will tell how it holds up. So far so good :)
