Vitamix 5-Speed Immersion Blender, 625-Watt Motor, Stainless Steel/Black

I bought this powerful and expensive of an immersion blender uniquely for hummus. We had a older KitchenAid stick blender that we've had for maybe ten years and it worked for everything else, e.g., soups and smoothies. Hummus though would take a very long time, and even then would be a little bit grainy. We have a food processor, but it's just such a job to get it out of a cabinet and clean it out and dry it afterward; it's so big. Stick blenders are small and simple to clean. Eventually the KitchenAid's drive shaft started to get loose, so it seemed time for a new one, I wanted one that would be able to blend hummus completely. I got this about ten days ago and have made hummus maybe every other day since then, including two quarts (kilogram of beans) yesterday for a party. This makes industrial-blender grade hummus. I personally cannot tell the difference in smoothness between hummus made with this blender and Sabra or Trader Joe's hummus -- at least with dry beans that have been overcooked with baking soda (I am not removing skins, just blending them in). With canned beans, maybe a slight difference (and then, Trader Joe's and Sabra aren't using canned beans either). If anything it is better, because you can hold it at the surface and suck in more air and make it lighter and fluffier. It's reasonably fast. You get that quality within a minute at top speed for 250g-of-beans worth of hummus and maybe two minutes for doing a larger batch. I thought briefly about getting the specific mixing jar for it, but I'm just using quart yogurt containers and those are perfectly fine. This is slightly more challenging to clean than our prior KitchenAid because there is so little clearance between the blade and the inside-top of the bell. But I assume that has a design purpose (e.g., less space means greater shear force); and it's not tremendously more difficult. You just kind of have to really spray water in and get a smaller brush that can get inside that space.

I’ve been a long-time Vitamix blender user and have always been impressed with their quality, so I bought this Vitamix 5-Speed Immersion Blender knowing I probably wouldn’t be disappointed...and I wasn’t. The motor is powerful, the build quality feels very solid, and the five speeds give great control depending on what you’re blending. It handles soups, sauces, and smoothies effortlessly. I also picked up the chopper attachment, which works great for things like onions, herbs, and small prep jobs. It’s a really useful addition and makes the whole setup even more versatile. Overall, another high-quality Vitamix product that feels built to last.

It’s powerful and quick, seems durable. A little bit heavy than my former blender, but I’m very happy with the result. It’s expensive but I think it’s worth it.

Look, I think spending $149 on an immersion blender is plain ludicrous but I did, and here is why: I have an 18-year-old cat who is my absolute love and she has gotten to the point where she will not chew her wet food; she will only lick the juice and then leave the part that she has to chew. I think she has lost some teeth and chewing probably hurts. My remedy for this problem was to use my Hamilton Beach immersion blender to liquefy her food for her to make it easier for her to eat it. Well, after about 3 years of use, my Hamilton Beach immersion blender has started to slowly die on me. I could not run the risk of not being able to blend her food for her (because she literally would rather not eat than have to chew her food) so I researched the best immersion blenders. This Vitamix immersion blender was at the top of the list on every single list. All I could think was, there is no way that I am going to pay $149 for an immersion blender when I can buy one for about $30. Well, I did spend $149. Why? Because my hubby told me that I may as well go ahead and spend the money on something that will last for a long time because we recently got a rescue dog and the only way he will take his monthly pill is if it is blended into his wet food. *Le Sigh* So now that you know why I bought it, let me tell you what I think of it. I tried my best to HATE it, but I do not. Granted, it is a lot heavier than my Hamilton Beach and it does sit up higher than my Hamilton Beach which is the only thing I can say I do not really like because a can of cat food is a very small amount and it takes a lot of scooping and scraping to get it all ground up, but the end result is a very nice paste that my cat enjoys quite a bit. That alone is worth the money. I ground my dogs' pill into his food yesterday and OH MY GOODNESS there were no little chunks of pill leftover! Just an extremely smooth consistency. That has me so impressed because as much as I liked my Hamilton Beach, it would not blend up his pill well and he would take the time to pick the chunks of his pill out of his food and spit them out on the ground before he would finish his food. I can not begin to explain my irritation with him doing that, but this time there was none of those shenanigans! He ate it all with no problem. It is also super easy to clean which is always a plus! So all-in-all I am highly impressed with this immersion blender. I did not want to be. I wanted it to be trash and I wanted to fuss about it. I wanted to say to myself that I should have gotten another Hamilton Beach in the first place, but instead, the opposite has occurred. I love it so much that I bought the full-size blender which will promptly replace my Hamilton Beach blender. I also have Hamilton Beach personal blender cups and when I get the money I will be replacing those with some from Vitamix. Dang. I never thought I would become one of those "Vitamix people" (you know what I mean!) but I guess I have seen the light. If you are on the fence, get it. You likely won't regret it. Ugh, it is just that stinking good. Enough said.

I've wanted an immersion blender for years and finally decided to go for it. I did my research and decided on the Vitamix. It has exceed my expectations and I'm very happy with my choice. The blender performs exactly as it does in the video provided (watch it!) and blends very smoothly and thoroughly. I've made a few smoothies (frozen banana, ice, berries, yogurt, spinach...even carrot and apple with the skin on). It came out great each time. I also made a pureed soup right in the pot which was extremely easy (see photo). The Vitamix churned through the cooked bacon, tomatoes, onions and carrots with ease and my pot was still pristine. You don't need to worry about anything damaging your pot. The sturdy black plastic portion surrounding the blades provides complete protection. Clean up is very simple. The lower blade portion twists off for rinsing. I like the fact that it's comprised of only two pieces. The motor is somewhat heavy, so if you are looking for a lightweight immersion blender this may not be right for you (if physically holding about two pounds is a challenge). However, the weight is well worth it for the powerful and efficient motor. The design was well thought out, it's user friendly, and it more than does the job. I personally didn't want any accessories (it doesn't come with any) and the clutter of additional pieces I may not use. If you have a wide mouth jar or glass (three inches or more) you're good to go. I highly recommend this Vitamix blender (and no...nobody asked me to say this...it's just really awesome).

This is an incredible item! I use it for thick smoothies (with crushed ice or cubes, fruits, some frozen fruit, etc.) and intend on using for smoothing/blending items in a pan or pot and not having to worry about decanting into a blender, then back, as for soups. It is a little expensive, but the quality and strength of the motor and blades is SO above the blenders I have used and burnt out, in the past. Still, it is much less than the price of a competitor HD blender! And much more versatile being able to use as an immersion blender/mixer. I purchased a clear plastic jar (recommended Vitamix) for blending smoothies individually. It is secure and not cheaply made.. 100% in love with this!!

The motor is strong enough to handle tough ingredients, yet smooth enough for soups, sauces, and purees without splatter. Build quality is solid and feels premium, as expected from Vitamix. Cleanup is quick, and the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to use for extended periods. It performs reliably, saves time, and produces professional level results at home. A high quality immersion blender that fully lives up to the Vitamix name.

First of all, I am a huge fan of vitamix. I have the ascent blender, the food processing attachment, aerator, and the various size jugs. While I use the blender for various jobs, it is quite big. I saw an ad for this immersion blender, I thought why not give it a go! We do have the kitchenaid stick blender as well and next to this, it’s like a not even on the same scale, not even close. If you have ever used a vitamix, you know it’s built to last a lifetime. It’s a brand you can trust. If you can’t see yourself splurging on the big blender, this is a VERY good alternative that does the job just as well! In seconds, it pulverizes ice to make the perfect consistency smoothies. No chunks! The design of the bottom ensures the liquid is sucked into the blade and not the blade sucked into the container. It has the perfect weight and is easy to hold in any size hand. Yes, one hand is all you need on the stick itself. It looks great in the kitchen, too! I’ve also ordered the food processing attachment and the whisk, and can’t wait to try them out. This will be our go to for single smoothies from now on. I highly recommend, especially if you can get it on sale! $119cad for this is unbelievably cheap for what you get. At 625watt power, you really cannot do better.

I was expecting this to be much more powerful than my aged, anemic immersion blender. I, however, had no idea of the real power in this device. I made a pesto with the blender being at the most powerful setting. It blended, but then also whipped in so much air that it nearly turned my pesto into whipped cream. It did this incredibly quickly and very, very quietly. I remade the same pesto recipe on the lowest setting and then the middle setting. For most day-to-day tasks this powerful, slick blender is over-powered - which I think is good. I love this immersion blender and would buy it again. Given the brand and apparent quality, I expect to use it for years. Expect most tasks to only require a power setting of 3.

WAY better than the Ninja that it replaced (and which fell apart after only a few months)! But this Vitamix appears to be more robustly constructed and produces much smoother smoothies. Go for this over the Ninja!
