Bunion Pad & Toe Spacers

I have had bunion pain for years that has progressively gotten worse and worse, but amazingly I’ve found that something as simple as toe separators has drastically helped my foot pain. I have these big toe separators and a set that separates all my toes, and I can’t describe to you how great these products are for bunions. I had gotten the all-toes separators first, and while they were really lovely (I had no idea how tense my feet were and using the set that separated all my toes...oh my god, it’s like my toes and feet could finally relax and “breathe” and the blood could circulate and I could walk on my feet properly and the tendons weren’t so tight), I wanted something that I could wear all day long. The set that separates all my toes are unwearable with shoes as it makes my feet not fit, plus they get uncomfortable after about a half hour of separating all my toes. This one, where just the big toe is separated and the bunion is protected, is excellent for all day use and sleeping in. When I first started wearing these, my feet felt a bit sore for about 4 days, but in a good way—my feet, due to my bunions, were so painful especially in the inner arches and in the bone that goes through the big toe, that I had to compensate and walk on the outer edge of my feet to avoid putting pressure on the big toe bone. Walking like this created more pain, and also ankle issues, just to avoid walking on the bunion. I was having bad foot, ankle and bunion pain everyday, and the soreness I felt when I first started using these big toe separators was more because they realigned my crooked big toe bone and relaxed the muscles, and relieved the bunion pain from the bone being so jarringly bent inwards—that I could walk on my feet normally, and the muscles that I hadn’t been using correctly had to readjust to normal walking again. So, it was a good soreness, a “this is how my feet are supposed to be” readjustment. I have no soreness now, and no foot pain at all, and I wear these everyday. I’ve regained some flexibility in my big toes surprisingly. Before I started using these big toe separators, I couldn’t hardly move my big toe because of the pain and stiffness of my bunions, but now they move much more easily on their own and in circular motions without pain after having worn these separators every day. The separators I have that separate all my toes have a similar effect in increasing the flexibility of my toes by decreasing tension and relaxing the muscles. I would definitely recommend these big toe separators to anyone with bunions, as well as the ones that separate all your toes. I have a routine where I wear the big toe separators all day, and then in the evenings I’ll wear the ones that separate all my toes for about a half hour while I rub my feet, and then back to the single big toe separators while sleeping—and this is definitely helping me avoid surgery, so I’d recommend trying something like that. I hope this review helps whoever out there, these products have really made a difference in my quality of life even though they might seem insignificant and I hope they’ll relieve other people’s pain, too.

Tried several products to protect big toe and spacing while playing pickleball and so far this item works fine.. stays in place, keeps big toe in place and comfortable..

I bought this product hoping to help with my big toe from overlapping my second toe. The silicone gel feels good to the touch and it stays in place for active people. However, it leaves a dent and red mark on my big toe and it becomes uncomfortable if I wear it too long. For $10 it was worth trying, and it does straighten my big toe. I just didn’t get the results I was hoping for. Thankfully it was not expensive.

The pad was too bulky. I have a small foot and had to trim it. Feels good now and does give good toe separation as well as relieves pressure on bunion.

When the last of my previous purchase finally tore, I bought a bunch more of these. The original purchase units were comfortable, had a large shield, an appropriate opening, and a narrower toe piece.The new ones have a much smaller shield (the picture here is of the old unit), a wider toe piece (uncomfortable....had to slice off some of it), a smaller opening (which means you have to stretch it more to get it on and it's going to tear quickly), and an uncomfortable angle (the toe piece wants to jut up when in place).I wish I hadn't bought so many and won't be buying anything of Dr. Frederick's again (figure everything is being tweaked this way).UPDATE: Although I thought I'd trimmed this to the point where it was OK, it has obviously been holding my toes a bit raised and now I have pain where I'd never had pain before. My entire order is now being thrown out. Great job, Dr. Frederick...thanks a lot for putting great thought into your redesign.UPDATE #2: When I noticed the comment from the company, I responded and received a full refund for my order. Excellent, sturdy and well made product. I did not get paid for review and feel it's horrid when ppl are paid to play. I bought the bunion cushions in 2016 and now, year later, still excellent shape. I take them off, wash quickly with soap and air dry. I usually sprinkle corn starch/baby powder in baggie and swirl them around to coat, easier to put on toes. I have bunions and they are pushing my toes against each other. With all day use of all toe spacers on each toe, my muscles are slowly going back into place. It takes all day use when home and just use a few for putting shoes on. Decide what works, feels more comfortable for you. I bought all kinds and place on toes according to shoes worn. Sometimes, I wear a toe cover and a loop which pulls my main big toe and next toe over. Other times, I wear bunion guard w next toe pulled over and add spacer between two last toes. The idea is comfort, but constantly adding little pressure on muscles to stretch. Make it part of waking up, on goes toe spacers or loops. Unfortunately, with everything that goes wrong w body, takes effort to get even again.
