Core Skills Science Grade 2

I was skeptical about this workbook but I am so glad we got it. We are homeschoolers and I am using this for my first and second graders. The work is short and sweet but VERY informative. It’s not too much to overload the kids and it’s short enough to do every day, and they are really retaining the information. I will be looking for more like this one. Highly recommend!

This is too high for my second graders who are in the Title I category. Better for the gifted students. Steck Vaughan seeks high standards and excellence.

I bought this science book for homeschooling my daughter because the book we were using was too advanced. So far we really like it. It’s not too much. The pages can be removed if you like doing that. I will consider getting 3rd grade next year.

This is a very basic 2nd grade science book. I like the way the units are broken down. I add my own information as well to make it a more meatier lesson so to say. I also organize activities and my own custom worksheets to go along with it. I do recommend it to give to a good idea of what should be covered.

This book arrived promptly and in perfect condition. It's being used in a small group setting. Not an overwhelming amount of material. Thanks!!

I use it to teach my second graders.

This book has a good range and variety of topics, however it all seems to be presented in a very basic manner. For each lesson, there is a small amount of information and follow-up questions of the same structure every time. Perhaps it may work for someone looking very simple, repetitive approach, but it is not engaging or in-depth in any way.

Very good

Speaks of plants, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. It gives a brief summary to read and follows up with a sheet of questions as a quiz. Speaks of animal habitats and environmental factors and speaks about earth and its physical components. I found it good for kids. The content is very easy to understand and is more at a kinder-grade 1 level. Its def not hard. The only thing that makes this a grade 2 workbook is because the kids need to print out their answers in sentences. I suppose one could use this book for kinder-grade one and to answer the questions instead of printing the teacher could simply keep it an open group topic and get the class to draw or paint about what they've learned. Overall its a book that can be manipulated to suit the grade level at your wish.

Has a lot of lessons, and covers a lot of subjects to do with science. However it is a lot of writing and only a few hands on lessons, my daughter didn’t enjoy all the writing.

I ordered the grade two and received the grade seven instead, with blanc comic pages. Watch out people - don’t know if this is trustworthy

It was not scientifically correct in some pages.
