Has anyone else had trouble with the batteries? when placing in aaa batteries they don’t seem to stay in place and it won’t turn on.

There's a wire frame to keep them in place and are fairly snug, if anything you should have more difficulty getting them out than staying in. Sounds like yours may have a fault.
