I bought this 1500-watt rating transformer to run my 1200-watt JDM rice cooker. I have used it for a few weeks. I like it so far as it runs my rice cooker without problem and only gets slightly warm. I'll update my review if it breaks in the future, but I do expect it to last, unlike the 2000-watt model from another brand that is made in China. Pro: - Made in Japan. Yes, I am surprised to find out that this is made in Japan, so I expect it to last. - Compact. - Heavy for its size, feels sturdy and well built, no flex. Con - Don't know if there is a fuse, and if there is one, how to fix/replace it if it burns out.

Great transformer for high-end audio equipment
Great Nissyo transformer for 100V audio equipment produced in Japan. I run both Luxman control amp and the streamer through it; the transformer does not degrade sound quality like some other brands I tried (mostly the ones that used toroidal transformers; these made the sound mushy and clearly lacking). The build quality of Nissyo transformers is outstanding; they look like toys with perfect shape and paint (and less like a typical industrial transformer one may expect). Packaging was also very good. When connected to the power, they are silent; don't have even a slightest hum. For those of you who are audiophiles, I compared the sound of my system (Luxman/Focal) using this 1500W Nissyo and another two: one was 550W Nissyo (a smaller brother of this one) and the other was from ACUPWR (300W; much more expensive; very good build quality). I ended up using 1500W Nissyo permanently in my system because it provided the best sound and had two connections (I needed two). Both of the other models were very close but arguably big Nissyo was the best (and I preferred Nissyo over ACUPWR). Mind you, the differences were minor and would only be something to consider on a very high end resolving system. ACUPWR is still a great product; I guess in my case it was about having more powerful transformer that played the role. This was regardless of the fact that on paper my two connected devices only use ~28W + 32W = ~60W of power (so one would think even 300W would be overkill, right?). Everything worked perfectly fine with either of three transformers but the sounds was the best with big Nissyo. Other than that, they all are autotransformers (not isolating ones) meaning the same single winding is connected to the input 120V and the output 100V. Also, ACUPWR while comes equipped with a standard US cord and receptacle (grounded), the Nissyo ones will only have Hot/Neutral (there is a separate ground connection on the case that can be used if grounding is required but its power cable does not have ground pin either). In my system, all of the equipment was from Japan and because I used two prong Luxman power cables w/o ground, it was perfect (but still is is something to keep in mind). FYI, if you do use Luxman power cables, keep in mind that they are polarized meaning you need to connect them in proper orientation (there is a “dot” on the cable that goes into wider slot). They *can be* connected incorrectly (nothing will blow up, just won't sound right). I did mess it up initially not actually knowing this (did not pay attention to power cable packaging that clearly showed how to connect them) and it affected sound negatively (like something was wrong/lucking but I could not tell what or why). Figured it out eventually and now enjoy my sound through Nissyo 1500W.

So far so good
We’ve only been using it a couple months, but so far no issues. Unit is simple, but appears to be well made and heavy duty. I hope it will last at least 3 years.

I bought this for a 1000w Muji Toaster Oven, I bought in Japan. It's a bit pricey but it's great quality, and I feel it's totally worth the price. I've had it for over 3 months and still going strong. I've used the toaster at the maximum 1000w settings without any issues. It's not as big as other transformers I've seen, and I love the look and color.

it worked for three times, and that was it!
I have had a Nissyo 1100w for 10+ years for a "Hot Carpet" from Japan in US. I have also used that to operate Panasonic Home Bakery(430w) as well and worked fine however, when I purchased Tiger IH rice cooker (750w), it stopped cooking and show an error message. I was so afraid that I might have broken the machine already. Now, I am very happy to find out that my new Nissyo 1500w works on my rice cooker! And it's got two plugs as well which somehow I wasn't able to tell from the Amazon picture. I also purchased a 4year protection plan for $10.00. I wish I had bought the 4year plan for the rice cooker and not the converter. Update - after using Nissyo Transformer for three times for my Japanese rice cooker, the cooker started giving an error message in the middle of cooking and wouldn’t cook any further even after unplug the cord which means I have just wasted the rice. It would be nice for the manufacture to test varieties of home electronic items to give cunsumers some ideas for what types of items work and not. So I took one star away. I also uses the transformer for Aprecia 1250w, and works just fine.

Ideal transformer to power Japanese electronics
This is an ideal solution to power high-end electronics from Japan. I use it to power Luxman P-750u Headphone Amplifier. The output voltage is ~98V. It gets lukewarm after few hours of use and is silent. There are also several benefits of using a decoupling transformer when powering analog audio equipment.

A Keeper.
Very small and heavy, rock solid, build quality is superlative. Perfect for use with Japanese audio equipment, as it is completely silent. Has a clean industrial look and a vibrant cheerful color. Made in Japan. Not cheap, but feels like it will last a lifetime or two.

Well made, relatively compact.
Metal construction feels solid. Size is relatively compact for such high current rating.
