Simply Marvelous!
I bought this to protect the carpets in our new house. We closed on a day that had 8" of snow, so I knew that there were going to be LOTS of muddy shoes coming in and out of the house while we moved in. I just had the carpets cleaned and didn't want them ruined, and this stuff seemed like a better option than buying a ton of rugs for the floors. It worked beautifully. Its super easy to apply, though a little time consuming. I was able to cover all the hallways, half of the living room, and a full stairway. The stairs were tricky, but this stuff stayed in place the whole time! It didn't even look half-bad on the floors. I was worried about how slippery it would be if we were just in our socks (especially on stairs) but it has just enough texture on the top that you don't slide around. It really was perfect for all our needs. There was no sticky residue when I removed it from the carpets, and the plastic was definitely a life-saver for the carpet because when I pulled it up, the plastic was brown from all the water/mud from our shoes during the move. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who needs to protect their carpet for any reason.

Think of it as saran wrap with a sticky side.
Was moving out of a rental and didn't want to get the carpets dirty so I opted for a roll of this plastic film. It's a little hard to work with because of the stickiness but it worked out great. Once you lay it down, it doesn't move. I would suggest 2 people to lay it down on carpeted stairs. One person to hold the roll taught as the other lays it down. For such a thin piece of plastic, it held up well to the foot and furniture traffic. When removing the film, I suggest that you pull it back at an angle and step on the carpet as you pull it up, otherwise you might stretch or pull up the carpet off the tack strips if you're not careful. The glue is sticky but does not leave a residue. The instructions say to remove after 45 days so I'm guessing that eventually, if left on the carpet too long it will be hard to remove.

Saved our carpet
We used this on our basement carpet when a sump pump and drain tile were installed. There was significant concrete dust, drywall dust, and other material going up and down the stairs and through the carpeted room. As I pulled it up, I wasn't paying enough attention at one point and some of it slipped through. Trying to get that off the carpet demonstrated how much this product helped us out. Putting it down was pretty easy (there were two of us) and when we need to do it again I will try to be more cognizant of giving it a decent overlap when there's a lot of dust/grit involved, so I don't have to be as careful when pulling it back up again to make sure nothing slips through. Worked great on our stairs as well, we did two runs along them to cover the stairs though I see on the box there is a product specifically for stairs. As it says it's not recommended for use in basements and ours can get humid, I waited as long as I could to put it down and pulled it up as soon as I could once the work was finished. I also didn't notice any tears or punctures, despite the heavy duty work that was being done in our basement.

Good carpet protector
Definitely sticks to your carpet! This product was sold as described, fast shipping, and no damage upon arrival. I bought this product for covering my carpet during a painting process. The roll is a bit difficult to unravel and has a weird odor to it (nonetheless it was plastic), but it guarded the carpet well, so well, that removing it takes some effort. No sticky residue left behind, no damage to flooring, works as expected.

KleenKover must be reading these reviews.
Based on other reviews I was skeptical about trying this, but evidently the product has been improved. The two #1 complaints other reviewers had were: Takes two people to install and sticks to itself like crazy which causes a lot of waste. I bought a roll anyway, and found that these complaints were *unfounded*. I EASILY installed this by myself with very little waste. Granted, I'm not overweight and can get up and down off my knees with no problem, but in general I had no trouble at all. I did a 12x12 room in about an hour. Here's a tip for installation: Pull out about a foot of the stuff and position it on the floor where you want it. It's repositionable so don't wig out if it doesn't go right where you want it the first try. Once it is in position step on it and/or use some kind of weight to press it down. Then you can stand up and walk backward letting it unroll as you go. It comes off with about the same force as packing tape. Makes a godawful sound, but it is adhesive!! When you reach the end of your run GENTLY lower it to the floor while keeping a litte tension on it to minimize wrinkles and bubbles (where it overlaps the previous run). Here again, it's repositionable so don't freak. You can pick it up and put it back down again. The trick is to keep your runs in the 8-10 foot range. If you plan to use this in the same room over and over (aka to protect from little kids or pets) don't forget that in order to effectively do a whole room, you'll probably need to move all the furniture out first. AND DON'T try to use a vacuum cleaner set for hardwood floors on this. The rotating brush will STILL grab the plastic!! Use a broom or sponge mop to clean it!!

Impossible to get off; left a film on carpet
Good idea in theory, but I am sorely disappointed. Definitely a two person job to lay down. Did protect brand new carpets from tracking dirt all over, but near impossible to peel off. What a chore! Nearly ripped the carpet off right off the tack strips trying to fandangle it off. And now there's this film wherever we had it. I feel like we ruined our brand new carpets. I'm sure they'll need to be re-stretched from all the pulling, and I have a pit in my stomach that the tacky film left behind will only serve to attract and collect dirt, thereby undoing any protective effect from having it down in the first place. Super disappointed. Had good reviews. Even laid a piece down and tried pulling it up before laying the whole lot of it down :( I want my money back.

Great to protect your carpet. Easy to install and remove
I purchased this prior to a master bathroom remodel that was supposed to take 3 weeks. We have a long hallway with newer carpet that we didn't want trashed during spring/sloppy construction. The project ended up taking almost 3 months due to Covid-19/contractor issues. We had 3-4 strips going down the hallway (one on each edge and 1-2 in the center overlapping) to protect our carpet. We did replace about half way thru when there was a week break in construction due to contractor's scheduling. After construction was finished there was no residue left on our carpet (which I was worried about due to how long we had it applied to our carpet) and it was very durable. It did not rip/tear with the heavy boots/foot traffic and kept the spring mess and construction mess off of the carpet. I would not hesitate to purchase this again. We actually have recommended it to many people since. It was super easy for my husband and I to apply. It might be difficult by yourself though.

Worked ok but not worth the money.
This stuff is kind of hard to work with. It's not that sticky until it has been stepped on a lot. It is pretty strong stuff though. I wouldn't buy it again. I would rather just lay down a drop cloth over the carpet next time.

A Great Product
It is a great product, and lived up to all of my expectations. It is really like an extra thick saran wrap with a film of sticky glue on one side. Very tough and rip resistant much like saran wrap. Installing it is not hard but it is not for an impatient person. It is worse than saran wrap for sticking on itself, so taking time and being careful is a must. I suggest doing a flat section first to get some experience with it before tackling stairs. The stairs were a little more tricky because it does want to stick onto itself, and it really does stick down to carpet. With patience I got it down on the stairs, not perfect but pretty good, and it worked perfectly for multiple trips carrying loads down the stairs. I was worried that the plastic film is pretty thin but it is actually pretty tough, and it stands up to lots and lots of traffic. It will puncture and "rip" much like saran wrap if you catch it with a sharp and hard edge, but it will endure normal foot traffic. It sticks down very firmly to the carpet. There is no fear that it will slide or move under your feet. The shiny surface makes it look slippery but it is really quite grippy on my shoes and slippers. Pretty good on stocking feet too, and I never felt like my feet would slip out from under me even when carrying a load down the stairs. I installed new carpet in my basement and was up and down my stairs cutting and installing base boards, and then moving furniture downstairs. And lots of other trips up and down. When I was done, the film was still good for lots more traffic, and never moved at all. It came up nicely and did not appear to damage my new carpet in any way. The only thing I would caution you about is that I had it on my carpet for about 3 weeks for heavy traffic, and it really stuck down good in the traffic area. It did come off but I found it wants to stretch and tear apart when pulling it off. So in certain areas it was a bit tedious to pull off. I don't believe it hurt the carpet but when it was happening I was thinking it was perhaps a little more "tacky" than it needs to be to keep it stuck down to the carpet. All in all, a great product.

Sticks easily onto carpets
Sticks easily onto carpets. Peels with no damages. Instruction manual says it's not meant for some surfaces like hardwood floors..
