I can hook this directly to 12v in my travel trailer outside

Very rarely is a 12v auto/rv battery at exactly 12v. You could use a zener diode to protect from overvolatage and let undervoltage fall where it may. A buck/boost converter would provide the best consistency in light though.

What is the manufacturer's recommend maximum number of 5M strips that can be connected together in series?

Working current per meter is 0.4A so for a full 5M strip you will need a minimum power source of 2A to avoid any chance of overheating or worst. For 5 strips in series you would need a 10A current, source of 12Volts

Can u use this for my boat trailer as underglow? And is there an extension cord I can use for this as well

you can use for boat trailer, but will not take an extension cord. We have on our jet ski and have had no problems with them.

I want to connect (3) 5 meter Strips all together. What type of power supply do i need and can this be done?

Are you planing on connecting the strips in series or parallel? In series your resistance and therefor your current draw would triple. So you will need a power supply with the same voltage larger current rating. Parallel can use same power supply because resistance and therefor current draw will be less than half of one strip alone.
