My daughter used it to prepare for her English GCSE and achieved a good grade. More importantly, she came away from the experience without absolutely despising the subject—a far better outcome than my own English A-Level days managed to achieve. The guide is well-structured, covering all the key elements of the Edexcel syllabus with clear explanations and plenty of examples. It simplifies the sometimes convoluted language of exam questions and helps students understand exactly what is expected of them. The practice questions and tips for answering different types of questions seem to have been especially helpful. While English revision guides can often be dry and uninspiring, this one strikes a balance by being practical and engaging without overwhelming the student. It won’t turn anyone into a budding poet, but it’s a reliable tool for achieving good results. If you’re looking for a straightforward and effective way to support English GCSE preparation, this is a solid choice. Highly recommended, if only because it managed to make the process tolerable. This is helping my Y10 who really does struggle with English (Autistic). She got a 7 in her recent mocks! I rate CGP books anyhow as I always find them very well laid out and clearly written and organised.
