Q: Does it fit on a key chain for carrying around?

Yes, it fits very nicely. Furthermore it's very small (check the dimensions!) so it's easy to carry around. I think it's the nicest package for this sort of thing on the market.

Q: How does the password protection on this work?

I'm going to assume that your question is "how well does the password protection work?" And not asking for instruction on how to use it... To tell you the truth I was unaware that this even came with that feature until you asked the question. In under two minutes I was able to set up a security vault and transfer all of my files into it. If they could make it easier, I honestly can't tell you how. I bought the 32 gig version and it's worth every penny and more than I paid for it. Thanks for turning me on to the password-protected feature and I hope my answer helped you as well.

It will work with either or 2.0 or 3.0.
