Will it work, if i have a hdmi port on a docking station, a dp port on the monitor, and use a hdmi cable to link the docking station to the monitor?

If your monitor cable is DP and you need to plug it into your docking station/laptop's HDMI port, this cable will NOT work. Also buyer beware, for some reason this cable is NON RETURNABLE.

Yes that is how mine is connected from the docking station DP to my monitor HDMI.

My computer does't have an hdmi port. can i put the usb side in my computer then attach the hdmi to the other side of the adapter & then plug into tv?

This doesn't have a usb port. If you mean display port, then, yes. You may plug the display port plug of this adapter into your computer then plug an hdmi plug into the adapter that goes to your tv. I use this to go out from my display port to a tv with hdmi and have no issues.

No. If you're referring to using the adapter the other way around, meaning plugging in an HDMI source to a DisplayPort monitor, you will not get a picture signal. This adapter and many others of the sort explicitly note they are not bi-directional.
