Les rayons trouvent facilement leur insertion dans l'outil grâce à un léger évasement au début des fentes. Les fentes mesurent : A= 1.5mm >1mm B= 2mm >1.5mm C= 2.5mm >2mm D= 3mm >2.5mm. L'outil est solide, parfait pour maintenir un rayon droit lors d'une tension. De plus, sa forme plate donne un axe visuel pour respecter l'angle perpendiculaire avec le moyeu de roue.
