Great item

I've tried most of the different iron supplement variations available at the Vitaminshoppe (and here on Amazon). This is the only one that does not cause undesirable side effects for me. I think the only thing that bothers me about this supplement is that Cardiovascular Research appears to be the only company in the US that produces and sells an actual ferritin supplement. I find this very strange because I cannot think of another supplement where this is the case. This was a red flag for me, because an iron supplement that doesn't cause constipation and raises blood serum ferritin levels is a big deal (it's like having a better mousetrap), so you would think all the big supplement companies would get in. There are so many companies out there and they are very aggressive about jumping into new and popular lines of supplements. But not this one. Why? I have no clue and I'm still trying to figure it out. Where are the big mainstream supplement companies? Solaray, Solgar, Vitaminshoppe, Source Naturals, Natrol, Twins Lab, the list goes on and on. So this is a big red flag for me. But I was desperate so I tried it anyways and IT DOES WORK. It raised my blood ferritin levels and also my blood serum iron , TIBC, and UIBC levels. With no side effects. So until I discover a compelling reason to stop taking these supplements, I think they are great.

My ferritin went from 6 to 26 within one month from using this product.

The BEST supplement for raising Ferritin levels. I take this along with Ferrex-150 and my Ferritin level rose from 17.7 to 47 in 6 weeks. No other supplement has worked for me. As the levels increase, I can feel my performance improving. My goal is to get my levels up around 100. Update 6/8/2016: I am not taking these anymore and have switched to different supplements. Here's why. My ferritin levels STALLED at 47 ng/dL and at one point, they even dropped back down to 27 ng/dL while I was still supplementing. At first, I thought the 27 value was a mistake but it repeated a month later. So, I then did more research and switched to taking Vitron-C and Ferretts Iron. I started taking 1 tablet of EACH on 8/31/2015 along with 250 mg of Country Life Chewable Acerola to aid absorption (these come in large 500 mg wafers that I split in half). Vitron-C contains 65 mg Elemental Iron (as ferronyl iron) along with 125 mg of vitamin C (as ascorbic acid). Ascorbic acid isn't all that great so that is why I also take Acerola which is a pure form of Vitamin C. Ferretts Iron contains 106 mg of elemental iron (as ferrous fumarate). My ferritin level on 2/2/2016 was 58 ng/dL, so that is an increase of 31 in 5 months. Not bad. I will be tested again in August.
