How long of a shower can get with (in minutes) from a 5 gallon bucket of water?

Mine is even faster. 40 seconds per gallon. Need to shut it off with about a gallon still in the bucket or the pump will be above water. So I timed four gallons of water and that took 160 seconds. About 2 1/2 minutes.

How long is the hose from the pump to the shower handle

I think it's about 7 feet, which was perfect for putting the pump part into a water bucket and hanging the showerhead above us in the shower tent. It's simplicity is what makes it so efficient for us.

I wouldn't recommend it unless the manufacturer confirms that the pump has an internal pressure relief arrangement.  It looks to be a diaphragm type positive displacement pump, similar to an aquarium air pump, working via a solenoid-operated piston moving a diaphragm back and forth.  The diaphragm forms part of a chamber, which increases and decreases in size as the piston moves.  There would be a non-return valve (probably a spring-assisted ball check valve) on both the chamber inlet and the chamber outlet.  The diaphragm pump design allows complete separation of the working machinery from the pumped fluid, and they are generally designed so that the process fluid (water in this case) is not necessary for bearing lubrication or motor cooling.  Being a positive displacement pump, it would move the same amount of water regardless of the back pressure it is pumping against.  This means that if the pump is running and the hose outlet is closed with a valve on the shower head, the water still has to go somewhere, so the weakest point will fail (leak), e.g. the sealing gasket, the hose, or the pump diaphragm.  If the weakest point happened to be the shower head immediately upstream of the valve, shrapnel from the resultant explosion, or being struck by the flailing hose, particularly if fitted with a metal ferrule or fitting, could cause a serious injury.The manufacturer would have assumed that the switch on the pump would be within reach during use, since the hose to the shower head is only 6.5' long.  Incorporating a switch on the shower head would add significant cost, utility, and reliability issues to the product.  It would require an electrical switch, an electrical cable along the length of the hose, which would be stiffened by the armour required to protect the cable from mechanical damage, and two cable glands (seals): one in the pump housing, and one in the shower head.
