LOVE KEENS
LOVE THEM, I buy these for absolute breathability, light weight, covered toe area (no stubbing toes), and a wide enough toe box, for me (due to bunions). They're easy comfortable wear with no socks or with socks either way. Super easy breaking in, if even needed, not like a lot of shoes. The elastic lacing is adjustable to fit your feet the way you want them too. When I first get a new pair, I usually loosen lacing all the way, & adjust for my feet These last for Years because quality is great. I can wear these feeling safe & secure... I am 70 yr old & I feel confident I won't slip & fall, it's ok if they get wet, great outsole on them too, that doesn't wear down at all. The covered toe box & the back keeps me safer too. I've been wearing Keens for many years because they last so long. I'll buy another pair in the next year or so to replace my brown ones I've had for years already. Keens are more expensive, than some cheap brands, but for the quality, longevity, & comfort I buy! ** I advise order up in size & I think that's maybe because, my opinion only, of the color. I find many shoes & pants that are black tend be be smaller on me. I also think this "style", Whisper, is more snug fitting I ordered up & they're perfect! I have always ordered up in size with KEEN brand anyway, but these black whisper needed a little more size up, for me. I buy their fully closed in shoes in addition to sandals too, I love my Kaci & Kaci ll, & I've also had their other styles for hiking, walking, etc... again they seriously last for years LOVE MY KEENS ALWAYS I highly recommend! Expensive for me, lower income, but longevity always keeps me coming back!! Well worth it to me for the last 18 years!

A Really Nice Trail Shoe
I never liked Keen's when the first came out because they looked like giant clown shoes with that big ol toe bumper. But I've been looking for a replacement for my Teva sandals, (which really have a tough time handling the trail and last only about a year for me) and came across these and was real impressed with the redesigned look. They're much more slimlined than the old ones and once I received them and put them on, found that they were super lightweight yet clearly wellmade. They do take some getting used to getting them on, but I found after a few weeks they were much easier than in the beginning. Also, I don't know about anyone else, but I have to go up a half size because there was no way my 8.5 feet were getting into their 8.5 shoes. Nonetheless, the 9s fit nicely and I'm trail-walking about 5 miles a day in them and my feet feel great. Walking this much in them I find I have to wash them every couple days, but they dry up in the sun nicely in just a couple hours so its not a big deal. They're a little pricey, but worth it if they last a couple years. I like them so much I bought another pair! I'm sold on Keen Whispers!

Supportive, water friendly, and well made!
Love these shoes for summer fun. Water friendly, adjustable, sturdy and great for hiking. Also great for chasing the kids through the yard & sprinkler! The Whisper style is more of a narrow fit compared to the Newport, so they fit me much better!

The best I could find for my narrow feet
The short version: I wanted a sandal with a closed toe that I could wear to play outside with my son in the summer. I'm glad I ended up with something waterproof because they work great for Six Flags too. I would not recommend them for someone with narrow feet who wants to hike or climb in them because my feet slip too much for that. The long version: Depth: When I originally tried the Whispers in the store, I thought they were too deep (meaning: dig into my ankles) but I realized it's just the soft lining that touches my ankle and it isn't uncomfortable. Sizing: I had some confusion with the sizing. In athletic shoes I wear a 9.5, but according to the Keen sizing chart, I should wear a size 8. I went up a half size because of the closed toe, but it was still too short. (Either my toes hit the top or my heel hung off the back slightly.) I ended up with a 9 for length but I would have preferred the width and depth of the 8.5 (the story of my narrow-foot life). The bungie tightening system works better than I thought and I like that it tightens the heel as well. Unfortunately, on my shorter foot, I have a hard time getting it right. It’s either too tight or too loose. If it’s too tight, the lining bunches in and rubs my big toe. If it’s too loose, my foot doesn’t stay at the right place in the shoe and my arch or the ball of my foot hurts. On both feet, I have about a quarter inch of space on either side of my toes. Weight: These shoes are lightweight enough not to cause fatigue. Comfort: I have worn these in the yard, to the playground, up and down stairs in an arena, and to Six Flags. They are fine for playing around, but I probably wouldn't hike in them since my foot slips in the shoe just a little too much on uneven ground. At the playground they were shock-absorbing enough for me to chase my son without discomfort. (The wood chips in my shoe were another issue, but it was easy enough to pull the shoe off to dump them out.) They were great for walking around for hours on asphalt/concrete at Six Flags. The bottoms of my feet did hurt a little, but I'm not sure it's possible to spend hours at an amusement park and not have my feet hurt, no matter the shoes. Contrary to other shoes, it was not a lasting ache. My feet generally hit a sweet spot after 5-10 minutes of walking, so the aforementioned issues are not present. The real problem so far has been the up and down stairs in the arena (following my son around, why else?). My foot kept slipping all over the place and I kept stopping to adjust the one shoe to no avail. But again, in most areas, they are fine. Waterproof-ness: I'm glad that they are waterproof because my son thinks we have to ride all the water rides every time we go to Six Flags. I have had no chafing in the 4 times we have gone. I wore them to the water playground and into the wave pool and I did not feel like I was going to slip. They have nice rubber soles. Color: I have the Dark Shadow/Ceramic color. I like that the gray is dark enough to not immediately show dirt, like I imagine the Neutral Gray would be. It also seems more neutral than the lighter gray of the “neutral gray”, so I feel like I can wear them with any color shorts, even my khaki shorts. The Ceramic is a nice teal green. Durability: These definitely seem like they will hold up for a long time. Other sandals I tried: I actually tried the Ahnu Tilden V first because it also had heel protection, but it was too deep for my foot and the footbed was very uncomfortable. (They were returned.) I tried on the Venice H2 in the store and they were too wide for my narrow foot and felt clunky. I also tried on the Croft and Barrow sport sandal at Kohl’s but the bottoms were plastic and I nearly fell jogging across the vinyl floor.

The BEST Rugged Outdoor Sandals
First off, it’s worth mentioning that due to a sports accident long ago, EVERY pair of footwear I buy automatically needs $70 worth of orthotic “surgery” before I can even wear them. So obviously, with that added expense, I need to be sure all and every pair of new shoes will be durable and last at least several years. Besides that, they’ll need to be comfortable from the start—I can’t risk putting that extra money into a shoe that will never become comfortable or might cause blisters. Fortunately, Keen sandals are both durable and never have caused any distressing issues, so I can be confident that they will fit well and also last for many years of rugged use. Thesis style is always true to size and super comfy. (I adore them and no, this is not my first pair!) Besides that, I LOVE the color of this pair—they’re cheery enough to wear on a daily basis with casual slacks or skirts. (It feels silly to worry about getting them muddy should I sometimes decide to wear them while mowing the lawn or gardening since mud and muck always wash off easily with a quick spray with a garden hose.) I also wear them when kayaking, as they provide stable footing and won’t slip on mud or slimy rocks as you’re entering the boat in the water. Besides that, these sandals always dry out quickly so you’ll not have wet feet while waiting for hours for them to dry out. Simply put—I adore these sandals and will likely buy another pair sometime soon. (Yes, I’ve had another pair for about six or seven years that by now are fairly tattered, yet still wear them from time to time when doing really messy tasks. After three or so years I started popping them into the washing machine with jeans and heavier fabrics, making them look brand new without any evident wear or damage to the sandals or the other laundry. That’s a win-win if you have stinky feet. 🤣) So it’s a two thumbs up review for these fantastic sandals (or should that be “two big toes up” review? 8^) If you’re strategic about purchasing them off season, you also likely to find discounted pricing on their less popular colors or styles!

Very comfortable and attractive
These sandals are well-made, beautiful colors and very comfortable. They are lightweight and it feels almost like walking barefoot. I have extremely narrow feet and I first cinched them up too tightly. They are difficult to get on my feet, but, once they are on, they are easy to adjust. Like others, I soon realized they don't need to be tight. I got a blister on my ankle bone the first time I wore them. They rub on my ankle bones but it doesn't bother me when I loosen them. I may have high arches because I don't feel any arch support. Its not a problem because I wasn't expecting to feel arch support. I think they look cute and do not make my size 9 feet look like clown feet. I bought two colors; one birch and the other pair is almost black with a little blue detail.

Picked the Whispers over the Newports, and here's why...
UPDATE: I've had these shoes for a little over a year, and the stitching has started to come undone on the side. However, it is easily repairable, and the rest of the shoe is in great condition; so, I still highly recommend them! ORIGINAL POST: First, I'll say that I absolutely love these shoes! As my husband and I were planning our honeymoon in Hawaii, we knew that we were going to need some good water shoes. I'm more of a sandal girl myself; so, I ordered both the Whispers and the Newport H2s, and here's what I found... The Whispers ran truer to size than the Newports. I order my regular size in the Whispers, which fit perfectly, but I needed about a full size bigger on the Newports. (Not a deal breaker, but just something to note.) The Whispers have a significantly nicer feel to them, but they do run a bit narrow; so, if you have wider feet, you likely want to go with the Newports, regardless of size. However, while the Newports are wider and are definitely a more rugged shoe with a bigger toe bumper, that also makes them a bit heavier and they tend to clomp a bit more. Depending on how you're looking to use them, this might be what you need, but for me just walking and hiking around Hawaii, the Whispers did just fine. I will note that on the beaches, especially the pebbly ones, the sand did get stuck in the Whispers a bit, but my guess is that would've happened even more with the Newports as the latter have the bigger toe bumper where sand likely would've gotten stuck. As far as arch support, the Whispers have good support, but the Newports definitely had a better insole. However, it also made the Newports a bit tighter on the top, almost like they didn't fully account for the arch, which wasn't unbearable, but again, something to note when choosing what size to order. For me, the arch support was still more than sufficient in the Whispers, and my feet never felt too tired walking around in them for hours. I've also heard comments that the back of the straps on Keens get stretched out after time; so, I also liked that the Whispers were reinforced with ribbon around the back too. It also added a cute accent to the design, making them not only a good water sandal, but also a cute all-around nice shoe. They were so comfortable that I ended up wearing them even when I knew we weren't going to be getting our feet wet. So, after walking around the house in them for about 1-2 days each, I ultimately went with the Whispers, and I'm very glad that I did. The fit was comfortable, they weren't too bulky, and they did exactly what I wanted them to do, which was mainly protect my feet as we explored rainforests, beaches, and other fun sites. I'll try to give an update once I've had them a bit longer, but after two weeks of wearing these almost exclusively in Hawaii, I can say that I'm very happy with them and would highly recommend them to anyone!

Favorite pair of shoes I own
Best shoes! They feel very flexible and easy to move your feet in. I like that because you don’t have to break them in like other shoes. These cans are so versatile! We have four seasons in yet I find myself wearing them all year round with socks or no socks. They are great waterproof shoes that don’t stink! Very happy with my second pair. The taupe/coral was the best color in my opinion. Versatile and very flattering for my skin tone.

Sizing was perfect. Sandals have hardly been off my feet.
Would and have recommended this footwear to lots of fellow walkers. They are comfortable and fit really well. The sizing was spot on.

Walking sandals
I ordered a half size bigger because of problems I had with cheaper models. I am sure my normal size would have been ample. They are great

Great for walking.
Not the most attractive but so comfortable you forget you've got them on and great for walking as they offer toe protection and you can get them wet. I have wide feet that are not easily pleased but I'm very happy with these and great to find in a half size making the perfect fit for me.
