The book in my opinion, does not start off well. The reader will suddenly find themselves, getting turned off by feelings of "world conspiracy" theories. The author has previously worked with the CIA. But stick with it, this book quickly turns into a page turner. The books main focus, is in regards to world monetary and economic systems. Rickards will bring the reader through the workings of the; IMF, The Federal Reserve, European Central Banks, Chinese economics, the gold standard, fiat currencies, and many other political considerations. Rickards explains how central bankers are battling against inflation, deflation, and sovereign debt problems. Rickards believes the IMF will eventually issue a new world currency, that replaces the US dollar. I hold some reservations on that prediction. But his explanations on several US dollar issues, make a lot of sense. The reader may also find the section on gold to be very helpful. There are all sorts of myths and misconceptions, regarding gold as a monetary unit. Rickards makes it clear, that the difficulties in the economy are structural problems. This is a lot different, then a cyclical downturn. Structural problems require large changes to a society, that will then enable positive results. Cyclical downturns are a natural result of the business cycle and tend to work themselves out. This book was interesting and informative. I would have appreciated a glossary . The reader can expect to be, barraged by an alphabet soup of acronyms and initials. But over all, this book is recommended.

No need for longer review, this book is must read. It doesnt matter if you believe in it or not - the book is just fantastic. IF it happens to be true, probably it is worth every penny to follow the advice book gives.

Livre très bien écrit dans un Anglais qui coule de source mêlant petites et grandes histoires de la finance. Pour avoir un aperçu de ce que pourrait être l'histoire de la vie et de la mort du système financier international. Lève bien des illusions sur ce qu'est la monnaie et la finance ainsi que les motivations des acteurs dans cette pièce tragi-comique.
