I have this paired up with a daiwa lexa HD 300 reel. it's perfect! hope this review helps others choose. Review: I actually own 3 models of the PCH Custom I liked them so much. So I first purchased the okuma PCH custom 801XH to pair with my new Penn Fathom LD2 30 and I couldn't be happier with the results! I live in San Diego and frequent the overnight and 1-2 day trips to mexico for Pacific bluefin, yellowfin, yellowtail and Dorado. I run 65lbs braided line and add 20' of top shot 25-50lbs. The biggest fish I've caught so far on this rod is a 95lbs bluefin tuna. It took over 2hrs to reel the fish in but the deckhands were complementing the rod, the reel was a little under gunned for a near hundred pound tuna so I bought the second the go with Penn Fathom LD2 40N. Also a great combo. The last one is the PCH Inshore Custom pair with Shimano TranX 400 for swim baits and bay fishing
